Per NBA reporter Marc Stein, there is a "growing resignation" within the Dallas Mavericks organization that the Knicks are Brunson's "inevitable destination" when free agency begins on Thursday.

Chris Mannix: Part of the Knicks pitch to Jalen Brunson, I’m told, is the opportunity to be a full time point guard. In Dallas, Brunson can play with Luka. But Luka is the de facto point guard. In New York, Brunson would run the show

At this point, it's widely anticipated that Jalen Brunson will go to the Knicks on a four-year deal in excess of $100M. It remains to be seen how New York will clear the rest of the necessary cap space and whether the Mavs can work a sign-and-trade to recoup assets.

With Jalen Brunson likely to sign with the Knicks on Thursday, Julius Randle becomes an interesting player to watch moving forward.

New York can create a max salary slot next summer, even with Brunson, by declining team options on veterans and trading away Randle.

Man, I love the the anti-tampering rules in thr NBA, so effective, almost as effective as the drug war in removing drugs from market.

This is what happens when you dont extend your players and instead speculate on crypto pyramid schemes.

This is definitely this years version of Kyle Lowry/ Lonzo signings from last offseason. NYK playing it safe to avoid tampering fines

What happens if/when he resigns. I still gotta see it to believe it. You're gonna leave a WCF team for the NY Knicks ? I have to see that first. All the power to Brunson if he does that.

Dallas got to the WCF by chance and he will be the starting point guard of the New York Knicks.Not some off ball dude who Luka can randomly bug out on when Luka makes the turnover or defensive error…


Oh and speaking of chance, Cuban could of locked Brunson up for way less than 100 mill.

He's a good player and pretty underrated but he's turning 26 in a couple months and I just don't think he moves the needle for the Knicks.
They need to surround a guy like Brunson with a superstar or two, because he can't be that guy. If Brunson is your #1 or even #2, you're gonna be fighting for a play-in spot at best.

It's worse, Heat didn't need t lay great groundwork for the deal to happen, here, a team is paying for cap space to target specific player and defering draft picks, oh well, Cuban has no one to blame but himself, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Awesome, we'll just cement flirting with 8th seed and lottery, get the 8th-12th pick, trade lotto pick for future picks with conditions that don't pan out. Treadmill

I think the hope is that having a quality PG this season improves the value of our kids (& vets) for a future trade that brings a superstar (or two) in.
