Sure if there is a unprotected pick involved.

Brogdon + Hield for Westbrook + 2027 first makes some sense for both teams. Don't think that Brogdon has the trade value the Pacers thought he had or else he would have been moved, and they could likely do a lot with all that cap space next summer.

It really does seem like the market for Brogdon has dried up. If they made this trade though they'd almost have too much cap space, and they probably will regardless. Watch them do something like give full max deals to Wiggins and Vucevic.

I'm not fully convinced Buddy Hield is that much of an upgrade over a Malik Monk. 31 years old with 2 years $40 million left on his contract too. We already know a (cheaper) 3&D shooting guard in the mold of a KCP, Alec Burks, Josh Richardson type fits w/ Bron. Hopefully the Lakers don't overpay too much future assets for him if the trade goes through (which by all accounts is just still your regular rumor). Brogdon should be valued more as he replaces Russ, especially IF he could stay relatively healthy.

P.S. If it's a Russ centered deal for Buddy & Brogdon/depth I'm definitely on board with that though (w/ relatively reasonable future assets going out).

It's not about how good Buddy Heild is or isn't... It's about the best possible return on getting rid of Westbrook...

You mean it's about getting A return on Westbrook

100% agreed. Replacing Russ with depth would be a welcomed return for sure.

In a vacuum you take Buddy over Monk but the point is that if you get Buddy (and Brogdon), you can now focus your tMLE in other areas ie. Bamba or a bigger wing who can defend.

100%. I am of that same mindset. Lakers should prioritize adding size/youth/defense/shooting (wings/forwards/center). My point was that Buddy's contract in and of itself isn't too valuable and I wouldn't be quite as thrilled if we were to trade assets solely for Buddy while keeping Russ. Russ should be the one leaving for depth.

Lakers should absolutely do this if they can.

Extra shooting and get rid of Westbrook? Buddy Hield has lots left in the tank as a shooter that doesn't rely on athleticism.

Absolute no-brainer if the Pacers are dumb enough to make that trade.

Such a classic movie quote from an ATG movie.

Brogdon and Hield should only really fetch you an expiring contract that allows you to clean out your payroll next summer, throw in a second with the expiring. Don’t see how it merits a first round pick.
