Why hasn't Randle for Westbrook happened yet?

Has it been reported which team wouldn't do the Randle for Westrbook and the 2027 FRP trade? For the Lakers, it seems likely there's no way they're gonna get a player with as much potential upside as Randle for Westbrook, and the Knicks need to play Toppin and if they can get a major asset for Randle, they should.

If the Knicks want a major asset for Randle I don't think the Lakers are the right trade partner.

Just got off the phone with Leon Rose

He told me they are a bit skeptical because Knick fans will boo Westbrook and Dolan has concerns of "Sell The Team" chants

Getting rid of Randle and his contract IS the asset.

I think Lakers value 2023 cap space more than people might expect.

IMO the 2027 Lakers pick should be considered at least a potential major asset. I think this era will be defined by the trend of teams trading 4-6 FRPs for players and some teams getting bitten badly by it. Look at the Eastern Conference Champions this year, the foundation of that team was built completely as the results of one of these trades and now there are way more teams that have exposed themselves by giving many of their future picks.

Only because:

1) Knicks have other plans for FA. They do not want WB on the team. And they need cap space to get Brunson.

2) Randle can have more value than a distant 2027 First and an awful expiring. Especially for the FO. The Knicks Front Office must have been fired by then. Besides Randle can bounce back and be a borderline star again. Although I want him gone.

3) Lakers do not want to risk their future to go all-in with a very limited roster, a 38 years superstar, and another injury-prone star. Besides, they need shooting and defense. Randle is not great in either atributes.

4) Randle and the Lakers did not end their relationship on the best terms I guess.

Lakers let Randle walk for nothing, then try to trade for him. Good ole Pelinka and Magic

As much as this would be a standard Knicks move it isn't shortsighted enough for Lebron and LA.

Why would anyone want to take on Randle for an expiring? Specially one that fits even worse than Westbrook. Basically taking a 1 te problem and making a multi year problem.

“Potential upside as randle”

Sorry but the Knicks have themselves a negative asset on their hands that will need positive value attached just to move.

Cap Space for who? Many of the players on this list won't be available and some of them don't make sense. I guess they could fill their roster out with a few solid players like Jakob Poeltl?

Then in 2024, with their newly signed players, they make a better run at a championship with a 39 year old LeBron.

Yea if the best you can get is Randle's awful contract, might as well just ride out Westbrook's last year and reset next summer around AD

Capspace for the Lakers is more valuable than almost any other team.

Well like what they have done in the past. They will go for big names first and have backups for role players.
But that is their best path forward, they get a solid team and don't lose draft capital.

LeBron may not even be on the roster in 23-24. That's why they don't trade Westbrook or picks for anything short of pieces that offer championship contention. No offers do that so they just wait it out and see what they can do with a new coach and better fitting supporting cast. It's underrated that the supporting cast was awful last season.

Knicks are going to get Brunson. We can all hate on Randle, he definitely isn't perfect. But he's also a year removed from a really good season. I see him as a better player today than Westbrook. Knicks want to win now with Brunson, RJ and Randle for better or worse.

Houston bought out Wall. Could the Lakers just buyout Westbrook and try to build around AD/Lebron if no trade happens
