Is There A Path For Any Team To Trade For KD & Compete?

Post#1 » by OrangeBlueSkies » Sat Jul 2, 2022 2:40 am

The nets want a “historical haul” for Kevin Durant. How can a team give them that and still compete?

By historical haul, it means you are NOT getting Durant by packaging Cam Johnson, DeAndre Ayton, and mikal.

It points at the warriors, Pelicans , and yes, OKC.

These teams can offer many young assets, picks, and possibly all star talent.

Wiseman, Wiggins, moody, Poole
Ingram, jonas V, herb jones
A boatload of picks, favors, Dort, bazley
And you can assume all these picks have a boatload [more] picks

I think NOP become contenders and I think GSW becomes a three peat… okc is more of the nets taking the offer that best helps their franchise…

Who says no?

GS (and likely KD) says no.
IMO, NO says no to Ingram and a bunch else, but may do a Zion based deal that certainly could be considered 'historic'
Durant says no to OKC ,the same way he'd say no to Houston.
Phoenix could deal Ayton to Utah for picks/filler then send Bridges + a historic pick haul to BK and still compete.

IMO the Phoenix offer is most likely. 2nd most likely is no deal (most other offers either don't send enough to the Nets or leave the new team too weak so KD won't want to go). The Zion offer is a low-odds outside plan that at least kind-of fits.

I don't think the team KD goes to will win a title.

They're going to be asset-less, not very deep and more than likely capped out .

Basically what the Nets are now.

I do think the Suns are the most likely, but if I'm Ayton there is no way I'm helping them get KD after they pushed me out the door.

Outside of WB/AD for Kyrie/KD type trade (which have almost 0% of happening). He is better off staying put.

Raps: Barnes, GTJ, Birch, Flynn, and as many picks as they want.

You took my answer. It's NOP except I'd center the package around, nobody freak out, Zion. Everybody wins. BK gets their young star. Pels don't have to put locks on the fridge. Zion gets the big market he wanted. From a KD perspective, he needs a small market for his own good. I think he'd like Willie Green. BI and CJ are comfortable 2nd and 3rd bananas.

Historical Haul?????

Everyone keeps forgetting Durant is 34. In the history of the league has a 34 year old ever commanded a historical haul?

The only example I can think of is a 36 KG and 35 Paul Pierce traded to the Nets but that is regarded as one of the worst trades in league history.

If KD was 28 he would have commanded a historical haul but he is 34.

I think Atlanta is the best destination for KD to get a ring, their backcourt takes ball handling pressure off and they could implement a Warriors type offense with their big 3 of Trae Dejounte, KD.

If Lakers went insane and sent AD, Westy, THT plus picks for Kyrie and KD that's a contender. It would be worth the price of admission to see KD, LeBron, and Kyrie on a team together.

Also if Boston wanted to make a move that's a contending team if you swap KD for Jaylen. I wouldn't do it if I were Boston though.

So yeah there's a lot of options.
Rest in peace Kobe & Gianna

Phoenix- Bridges/Ayton/picks.
Good assessment:

Sure. Clips could offer Paul George as a swap and pair Durant with Kawhi. That should be enough to stay competitive.

I think the easy answer here is the Pelicans. They can offer star talent, up and coming talent and picks without breaking a sweat. They could roll out a core of Durant, CJ and Zion with role players already in place. And what they wouldn’t have they could easily get with exceptions.

One idea that just popped up in my head is a 3 team trade with Phoenix, Raptors and Nets where Siakim, Bridges, whoever else the Nets want and a Rudy Gobert level pick haul goes to the Nets, Ayton + Cam Payne + pick heads to the Raptors and Durant to the Suns. The challenge of course is how do you make it work for the Raptors since they’re giving up the second best player in the deal and getting the third, but I think Scottie just needs to be given the keys sooner rather than later and I feel Ayton aligns nicely with Scottie’s trajectory and will make Phoenix regret not signing him once he’s on a new team.

I think the Suns are the clear answer and I assume the Nets and Suns are currently haggling over Devin Book or Mikal Bridges as the centerpiece.

After some time I expect the Nets to settle for Mikal Bridges. Then the Suns to resign Ayton and go win a ring.

Booker can't be traded to the Nets unless they move Simmons. Can't have two players on designated rookie deals. So unless the Nets are working to move Simmons they're likely not haggling over Book.

Booker can’t be a part of the package as long as Simmons is in Brooklyn. They’d have to either include him in the deal or find another team to move Simmons to.

Paul, KD, Booker is dynamite offense, hope it happens, just so KD can dethrone the Warriors 8-)

TORONTO

fred vanvleet/ OG anonuby/ 3 1st round picks

leaves em with a lineup of

pg: Scottie Barnes
sg: Gary Trent Jr
sf: Pascal Siakam
pf: Kevin Durant
C: Chris Boucher

Bench: Otto Porter jr.
Precious Achiwa
Kolonko
Thad Young
Khem Birch.

Nets get an All-star in Fred and OG who’s still only 24 and breaking into All star status, haul of picks as the Raptors own all their 1st rounders.

No thanks.

KD leaves in a year, rather keep Scottie for the next 8+ instead.
