Did we ever figure out why this hasn't happened yet? It benefits both teams.

To the Knicks: Westbrook, Kendrick Nunn, Wenyen Gabriel, a future 1st round pick, a future 2nd round pick

To the Lakers: Julius Randle, Derrick Rose, Cam Redish

Why should the Lakers trade away even more picks? The Lakers should sit pat and let Lebron, AD, Westbrook run in back. If they don't win a title then blow up the team and move on from the "Lebron" era. It's been a clown show.

I'm sure Thibs is just salivating at the thought of starting Brunson, Mitchell, Westbrook, and RJ together lol good luck Robinson, earn that contract.

Seriously this. First of all a front court of LeBron/Randle/AD is almost as bad of a fit as Russ with those two guys. And ya if Im the Lakers Im done selling my future for this group. It worked and you got a championship from the LeBron/AD duo. Just run it back one more year with what you have and if it works, cool. If not, alright. Time to start preparing your future for the team without LeBron.

Nobody "wants" Westbrick. And the Lakers don't want to give up a first to get rid of him.

I could imagine us taking Westbrick--to buyout immediately--for Randle and that first (unprotected), but it's not going to be a priority for us, and I doubt getting Randle (of all people) is a priority for the Lakers either. Hence, the lack of action on this trade idea.

Randle would basically become a $25M a year garbage man playing next to LeBron and Davis. He'd probably be good in that role, but not for that sort of money.

It’s because Randle sucks and is owed a lot of money, so nobody wants to trade for him without compensation.

And conversely, the Knicks don’t want to have to give up the kind of compensation they’d have to in order to move him.

And the Lakers don’t want to waste potential future cap space for Julius Randle of all people. Not when, annoyingly, they’ll probably be able to sign some star in FA.

He's a worse player on a longer contract with worse fit?

I'd rather waste 1 more year with Westbrook than take on Randle for the next 4.

Bro, we get a pick for Randle. If someone says I'll take your 4 small bags of crap and you take my big bag of crap and a million dollars, I drive my car over and get ready to load some crap

I don't think either team wants that trade. I still kind of like Randle and I think he'll be better next season, but I don't want that deal and he's also a pretty poor fit with LeBron and AD.

Why would the Knicks do this trade? They already have enough point guards and plus Westbrook is one of worst starting point guards in the NBA,while making 47 million dollars. I think the Knicks pass on this trade,unless they can get another unprotected 1st pick or two from the Lakers and even then, it might be pointless since they're not a rebuilding team.

LAL doesn't want to offer the kind of assets that NYK would want to make that swap because Julius just isn't a good fit with LeBron & AD. Randle's overpaid at 26M a year and shouldn't run your offense, but he helps us on the court more than he hurts. That could change if Toppin takes a big step and needs to start, but let's burn that bridge when we've crossed it.

LaL shouldn't do it. Westbrook is terrible but there is no reason to make the problem worse.

Its insane to that there are actually people suggesting the Knicks wouldn’t do this. Anyone who thinks the Knicks wouldn’t absolutely take a WB and a freaking first round pick for Randle I’ve got a bridge to sell you .

This is a ridiculous trade for the Lakers.

Porziņģis > Randle

Randle was very overrated when he had that one good season in Knicks uniform. He is on terrible deal, no one will trade for Randle. Westbrook contract is done after 1 year, Randle has 4 years. It's better to keep Russ than trade for Randle.

The Knicks just paid a first round pick for Reddish, so asking for Reddish back kinda negates the pick that's included. As for Russ v Randle, Russ may expire 3 years sooner, but Randle's a lot better on the court, paid half of what Russ is, and even without Randle or Fournier on the books, NY couldn't open a max slot next summer. So the Knicks would need more incentive to make that swap.
