Who wins? 2017 Warriors or 2001 Lakers

Who's going to guard Shaq. I'm pretty sure we see Kobe take a majority of guarding Curry. Curry would eat Derrick Fisher alive.

Which means Fisher is on Klay. Thats not terrible. Klay would give you his usual 20-25 a night.

But then who's guarding KD?

Shaq will end up being by far the most dominant. Probably 35-40 PPG with 15-20 RB a night on 65% shooting.

Kobe would go off for around 30 a night.

Curry would probably go for around 25-30 a night. But KD would give you 30 a night.

There is Kobe/Shaq vs Curry/Thompson/KD

What happens when a guy like David West or Shaun Livingston can come off the bench and hit the Lakers with 10 points each?
The Warriors played a frantic pace, would Shaq, who was never in good shape, be tired after guarding pick & rolls left and right while running suicides the whole game?

I have the Warriors in 5 or 6

Shaq would struggle to stay on the floor against the death lineup with prime Draymond.

Dray could also foul out in 1st quarter. Officiating on Shaq would decide the series.

Shaq would be literally unstoppable offensively, but the Warriors just have the decisive edge in overall talent & 3 point shooting.

Could the Lakers win? Sure. Would I pick them? Definitely not lol. Warriors would be the clear favorites to me.

Lakers, Shaq was just so dominant and Draymond isn't changing history of his dominance on the league

Shaq would probably average 40 and 18 for the series.

Lakers playing real basketball versus Warriors spamming threes. Meh, no thanks. Get rid of the three point line in this hypothetical, so the Warriors have to actually do more than shoot threes, then I am interested.

Strangely neither team would be able to guard the other very well, so in this case it would boil down to who would be able to impose their style more predominantly onto the game.

Shaq is going off on Draymond. I think you try and have Kobe neutralize Curry. I think Fisher and Ron Harper could do an admirable job on Klay. That leaves Rick Fox on Durant, which isn't great but Fox was a solid defender. You've also got Horry who could defend, though at this point in his career he defended 4's more than 3's.

I think the Warriors win with hack-a-Shaq. I’ll take Curry, Klay, and Durant shooting 3s over Shaq shooting free throws.

Shaq fouls out the Golden St line. Lakers guards are all good defenders (Kobe, Fisher, Harper) that do as good as job as possible on slowing down Steph. Lakers have to play Horry 40 minutes a night however, they need his shooting, passing and defensive versatility on the court. Lakers have good perimeter defense with size and length, which is exactly what you need against the Warriors. Lakers in 6.

Fun fact, David West scored 10 or more points 5 times that season. Livingston did it 7 times. If you're going to bring them up as offensive x-factors, you may as well bring up Horace Grant and Ron Harper for the Lakers.

the defense of that 2001 lakers team was ridiculous. curry/kd/klay is an all-time firepower but i'd put that 2001 playoff lakers team defense against anyone. even if shaq was "zoned" as a rules compromise of sorts, kobe is still by far the best all-around perimeter player and the offensive player with the most weapons on both team. klay isn't checking him one on one. as for 3s, derek fisher came back from injury and shot lights out from the 3 during that run. he's still gonna be open with kobe and shaq on the floor. you cant just look at players on paper for this matchup.

Horace Grant probably would be matched against Draymond since they were both starters. Him against a prime Draymond Green? You take your pick, but I'll stick with Green. Also these following matchups I believe would make an impact as well and I favor GSW's key role players.

Shaun Livingston @ 31 against Ron Harper @ 37
Andre Iguodala @ 33 against Robert Horry @ 31
I can trust both Shaun Livingston and Iguodala being able to initiate plays and play solid defense while seldom making mistakes. I don't think Livingston post moves can be defended by Harper at that stage of his career, nor Derek Fisher, so the Lakers are left with Robert Horry (slower version), Kobe Bryant or Rick Fox, both of whom have their hands full defending Curry, Thompson & Durant.

David West @ 36 against?? I can trust his veteran leadership while still being to play in the post, hit shots and make right passes.

Not to mention, there are certain matchup problems that the Lakers would have worry about. There is no one who can run end to end faster than Javale McGee, he will make the Lakers pay attention to him especially after made plays. Perhaps I'm not seeing what you're seeing, but besides Shaq, I don't think there is a clear advantage the Lakers have. And even that I think GSW can neutralize him by testing his stamina as well as his perimeter defense in pick & roll situations.

Who is trying to guard shaq ? im guessing young daimen jones. and zaza... since hes the tallest out of them and zaza doesnt mind getting dirty. , green would get eaten alive.
KD would be guarded by kobe, rick fox, Horace grant, Robert Horry . Klay would be guarded by kobe, fisher. No shot at winning for the warriors. Just out muscle them. Just guard curry and check him with our bigger guards. He wont last.

javal would be fouled out in about 20 minutes. He already has that issue now.

During the finals, he averaged about 4 fouls a game and he averaged about 3.5 per game in the 01 season while the Lakers' pace was at 91.7. The Warriors had a pace of 99.8. Now do you think Shaq would have no foul trouble whatsoever? I would imagine getting switched onto the Curry or Durant can result in cheap fouls given.

Now McGee would essentially be another body to throw at Shaq for about 10-15 minutes, but Shaq would also have to keep up with his rim runs, which compromises his stamina.
