https://www.espn.com.au/mlb/story/_/id/34390702/san-diego-padres-star-fernando-tatis-jr-suspended-80-games-ped-violationApparently it was in a ringworm medication he took:
San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. has been suspended for 80 games after testing positive for Clostebol, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Tatis' suspension, announced by MLB on Friday, is effective immediately, meaning the All-Star shortstop cannot play in the majors this year. In a statement, Tatis said he will not be appealing the ban as it was his "mistake" that was the cause of the positive test.
"It turns out that I inadvertently took a medication to treat ringworm that contained Clostebol," Tatis said. "I should have used the resources available to me in order to ensure that no banned substances were in what I took. I failed to do so.
"I want to apologize to Peter, AJ, the entire Padres organization, my teammates, Major League Baseball, and fans everywhere for my mistake. I have no excuse for my error, and I would never do anything to cheat or disrespect this game I love. I have taken countless drug tests throughout my professional career, including on March 29, 2022, all of which have returned negative results until this test.

I've had ring worm before. Could be a BS excuse but I'd like to believe him.

nobody would accept an 80 game ban for accidentally taking a medicine to treat ringworm.

What a waste after trading for Soto. They invested a lot in the next 2.5 seasons.

This is a slap on the wrist, 80 games is less than half a MLB season, whereas normally you get pinged for at least 2 years, at least in WADA

I was thinking the same. My guess would be he's always tested negative and when made aware he failed the test he probably gave the league a list of anything he was taking, when MLB saw it was prescribed for something legit by the Dr. They gave him a lighter punishment. Along with him taking responsibility for it apologizing and not contesting their decision all led to the shorter suspension.

Bad timing especially with the wild card spots being neck and neck. Padres pitching is shaky to begin with.

It's too bad we don't get to see Tatis/Soto this year, and that's coming from a dodger fan.
The memes though....the only ring the padres will get lol

It’s amazing how many fans actually buy the ringworm excuse.

Would a topical treatment of a drug permeate the skin enough to trigger a positive blood test?
Sounds BS unless he's taking baths in this ****.

1. Love Tatis but he’s an idiot that needs to grow up
2. PEDs should be legal in every professional sport
