Grizz-Warriors is the money game. I feel nothing for the Lakers-Mavs. Discuss.

Why are the Lakers involved in this man. No one wants to watch their scrubby team play that day lol.

And on top of that, they're on the road so the spread probably won't even be single digits lol.

1. Lebron is the most popular and recognizable player in the world.
2. Lakers is the most prestigious brand in the NBA.
3. Los Angeles is a massive market.

Hardcore fans know this lakers team isn't good. Casuals don't. And casuals drive tv ratings.

No wants to watch the Lakers? You're joking right? That is precisely why they are the opener.

Lakers got this. Watching the champions continue their celebration should motivate the Lakers even more.

it's the same reason why most don't care to watch the Knicks but they still get shoved down our throat. I understand the following of each fanbase but no one outside of their fanbases care to watch them during the opener.

Terrible. The Warriors should be playing a good team, not this Lakers team.

The league will never learn. Showcasing only certain teams is not the way to expand your reach, and showcasing the Champs against a bad Lakers team even worse.

Could have been against a myriad of other teams.

Dallas, Memphis, Denver, Minnesota @ Golden State would have been better than the Lakers for real lol.

The Lakers most likely get smacked. Curry is still Curry, Thompson is probably back to game speed & Kuminga, Moody & Wisemen will be a year more mature and better and I don't believe the Lakers have anything to go against that.

Loll I'm not saying that as a Raptor fan... I'm saying it as a NBA fan. Obviously there would be no reason to put the Raptors on opening day either lol.

A Celtics/Nets game is way too risky for opening night. Every chance Durant & Kyrie don’t end up getting traded & decide to sit out until they do. Couple that with no Simmons yet & you’re potentially left with a team that just went to the finals against a team led by Seth Curry & TJ Warren lol

Also opening day the Lakers will still have undiluted pre-season hype. Later in the season that won't be the case.

Its comes down to lebron james vs curry. We should all know this by now. Anytime they can hype up the two stars they will.
