John Wall: “I’m back!” Highlights at Rico Hines

Post#1 » by Wall_To_Clips » Thu Sep 1, 2022 12:15 am

Looks to be in decent shape. These are the runs vs Raptors players, Trez, and few other NBA guys. Lots of NBA execs in attendance at these runs (which would explain why they are allowed). There is a longer 20 minute video and besides his first step looking good, he buried a ton of 3’s. In spot up situations, over screens, and even on the move. If he can shoot 40% from 3 or close to this year with how open he’s going to be, will be huge.

These summer open run videos are awesome, but even Ben Simmons looks like a superstar with a wet J during summer runs.

Love the vids though and watch all of them. Really enjoyed seeing Wall play again. Was nice to see Steph and Trae in that one a few days ago too.

If no injuries I don’t see how Clips don’t win title.

The team that got smoked by 2nd year Luka and the Mavs in the 2nd round with prime Kawhi and PG healthy? Sorry, but it cracks me up how overrated this squad still is despite having proved nothing entering their 4th season together.

Nope not that team, because that literally never happened

True that, revisionist history on my end. Next time I will look up what I'm talking about if it's a few years back

It was the Nuggets they bowed out to in the 2nd round after being battle tested by young Luka and the Mavs. I do remember Kawhi and PG both going full turtle to close the series too.

Underlying point remains though. I still have not seen anything from this team to indicate that they should be heavy title favorites or talked about as such.

He's shot 37% once and 35% twice. 30 and 32% the last two seasons he's played.

Him shooting 40% from 3 is pretty out of the question honestly.

Usually when people say they're back they're pretty **** finished.

This needs context. He was perfectly healthy the last two years and the Rockets sat him to tank and play young guys. Why would that count against him?

Okay. 73 games in 3 seasons prior to the Rockets...

Still not a ton of hope there.

The guy hasn't consistently been on the NBA floor in 5 years.

Read yesterday that Wall said the last few years were the worst of his life. Between tearing his Achilles, his mom and grandma dying in the same year, then Houston sitting him when he wanted to play…said he even thought about suicide at one point. Brutal. I’m happy that he’s back and rooting for him to win a chip before he retires.

I mean… the Wizards and Rockets literally had half the shooters over 40% and no superstars to attract the defense. Recent examples:

Reggie Jackson 3 point shooting pre Clippers- 34%. Reggie Jackson 3 point shooting in 3 seasons on the Clippers 39.5%. Without last season when he had to be the #1 option much of the year, 42.5% or so.

Nic Batum career pre Clippers 36% from deep. 40% from deep two years on the Clippers.

Robert Covington last year pre and post trade: 35% vs 45% from deep.

Kennard last year led the NBA in 3 point shooting at 45+%

Lots of examples. Wall should have a 5% bounce probably with healthy Kawhi+PG and Lue as his coach. Clippers are the NBA’s best 3 point shooting team the entire Kawhi era.

It was a little bit different circumstances though in 2020...if we use that against the Lakers, then we have to use that for the Clippers.

Kawhi's teams have dominated Curry in their H2H matchups since 2015, both RS and playoffs. Better hope the Clippers ain't healthy or your boys are gonna be in trouble.

and? that was then and this is now. The Clippers will have a chance if those teams play in the playoffs again with a healthy wall out there.
