Once again, I am carrying the torch for Filthadelphia's annual Top 25 Player poll this offseason.

Your favorite offseason debate is back by popular demand!
Thanks to everyone who voted last go around I'm excited to see where the 5th annual edition ends up.

Here are the Rules:
-Vote ONE player per poll. You'll be able to change your vote just like in previous years so you can self-implement rank choice voting.
-The criteria of ranking the players is YOUR OWN. The whole point of bringing this to the GB is to attract the widest amount of votes/perspectives on the game as possible to form a true consensus. Some people value shooting over defense, team success over individual prowess etc. Filthadelphia wanted to bake all that into this poll set no matter how chaotic.
-Each poll a player will win and then be taken out of the field. There will be 25 polls in all.
-There are only 10 possible poll options so I will start with last year's Top 10.
-As each poll commences I ask you to COMMENT IN THE THREAD your vote for who should be added in the next poll. There will be a large list of players yet to be added to the field below that you can look over to make your vote. I will tally up the votes in the comments at the end of each poll and add the winner accordingly. For example, if you want Xavier Tillman added in the next poll just comment "Nominate: Xavier Tillman"
-If a poll is overwhelmingly skewed towards one guy I will try, time willing, to edit it early and move on to the next one.
-If there is a tie in the poll. There will be a run-off poll created with just the tying parties to determine a winner. The losers of the runoff will then be added back into the field of 10 for the next poll.

Vote: Jimmy Butler. I see Butler and Tatum as the two left on this tier. Tatum is the better offensive player and he's only 24 so he's still improving. He could shoot up even further in the rankings this year. If I had to pick one for next year, though, I'm just more confident in Jimmy. No wrong choice, though.

This is where the list gets tough for me...

I voted Tatum.

BUT I have to say if you asked me who the better player was last season, I probably would've said it was Jimmy. That's no knock to Tatum, at only 24 years of age and to have ALREADY been the best player on a team that has now been to multiple ECFs & now NBA Finals...rewind that a few times and let it sink in, he's had a very impressive start to his career. Personally I can see him being Kawhi level at his peak (maybe arguably more given the extra height) but he's been consistently VERY good and at times in the regular season GREAT, I've seen games I'd consider him dominant. BUUUUUT I haven't seen that in the Playoffs...yet. Jimmy on the other hand...

We seen Jimmy go God mode to carry the Heat to the Finals, then we seen him again having multiple monster performances where it just felt like HE was just taking over, I didn't really get that from Tatum. But at the same time it seemed like Jimmy was breaking down physically, as he did in those Finals and as he has throughout his career...he just has so many bumps & bruises...and Jimmy is no spring chicken anymore. This is about PROJECTING the season to come and I don't think it's going to get any easier for Jimmy to ATTEMPT to continue carrying that kind of load (and I haven't even mentioned the defensive workload now with PJ gone), the lockerroom morale to me doesn't seem great, ugly end to the regular season, team with public criticisms of Lowry & Herro, Bam's offence isn't quite there yet and need we mention just about everyone not named Jimmy were floated in KD rumours, disappointing Playoff exit, the mojo just doesn't seem right moving forward...I don't like how things project for Jimmy.


On the otherhand for Tatum, he is BARELY entering his prime (arguably still a couple years out), the game is just going to continue to slow down for him, he'll just continue to add to his game and even though he'll likely continue to grow as a scorer, the load won't be as heavy with all the crazy depth around him. He'll PHYSICALLY be able to do so quite easily especially as he just gets stronger & stronger. Now will he go out and dominate like he has in him to be able to do?! Idk but it's there and very rarely do talents like him stall out and flat line at just 24 years old lol, so I'd think he's going to be even better next season and having had the bad Finals he had, I'd bet he's only hungier to get back there and prove everyone wrong...everything just seems to be on Tatum's side (health, availability, motivation) to be the better player THIS season.

With all that ramble you would think the next pick has to be Jimmy then but I'm not so sure Lillard doesn't just jump right back in the convo or that Booker doesn't ascend higher fuelled off a humiliating exit, I'm sure Trae will make his push too, I think #10 will be a toss up...
