Just wanted to say thanks for running this show! As always it was a lot of fun to participate and have some good debates over player rankings. A great way to get us all ready for the coming season.
Thanks again.

5-yr average - Does this mean that a player who hasn’t been in the league for 5 years (e.g. Morant) is just given an average for the years he has played?

RealGM users are a hell of a lot better at this than ESPN.

Nice to see Pascal make it in after being on the cusp for a bit.

Median appears to be a better way of ranking that Mean over an X year period

He's been given a 40 for the years he hasn't played. The reason I did it this way was to measure it from the standpoint of who have been the top players in the league over the past 5 years. If I were to compare individual player arcs, then I would just give them a null score for years they weren't in the league. I may try measuring that as well...

Here's what the rankings look like if I give players a null value for years before and after their NBA careers. Players whose ranking this has changed are bolded:
5 year average ranking: 1. Giannis Antetokounmpo: 2.6 2. LeBron James: 3 3. Stephen Curry: 4.6 4. Kawhi Leonard: 5.6 5. Nikola Jokic: 7 6. Luka Doncic: 7.5 7. Anthony Davis: 7.6 8. James Harden: 7.8 9. Joel Embiid: 8.8 10. Kevin Durant: 9.8 11. Jimmy Butler: 11 12. Damian Lillard: 12.4 13. Paul George: 14.2 14. Rudy Gobert: 15.4 15. Chris Paul: 17.8 16. Karl-Anthony Towns: 19.2 17. Kyrie Irving: 20.2 18. Devin Booker: 22.2 19. Jayson Tatum: 22.6 20. Ja Morant: 23.7 21. Russell Westbrook: 24 22. Bradley Beal: 25.4 23. Trae Young: 25.8 24. Donovan Mitchell: 26.2 25. Ben Simmons: 26.6 36. Zion Williamson: 26.7 27. Jrue Holiday: 27.2 28. Draymond Green: 28.4 29. Pascal Siakam: 28.6 30. Kyle Lowry: 28.8 31. Bam Adebayo: 31.2 32. Victor Oladipo: 32.6 33. Blake Griffin: 33.4 34. Kemba Walker: 33.8 35. DeMar DeRozan: 34 T-36. Klay Thompson: 34.2 T-36. Jaylen Brown: 34.2 38. Khris Middleton: 34.8 T-39. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: 35 T-39. Anthony Edwards: 35 T-39. LaMarcus Aldridge: 35 42. Brandon Ingram: 36 T-43. John Wall: 36.6 T-43. Jamal Murray: 36.6 44. Darius Garland: 36.7 45. Al Horford: 36.8 T-46. DeMarcus Cousins, Gordon Hayward, Kevin Love, Mike Conley, CJ McCollum, Nikola Vucevic, Kristaps Porzingis, Domantas Sabonis, Zach Lavine, Julius Randle: 38

LeBron might not even be top 20 this season. Morant and Trae could replace him. Chris Paul also probably not top 20.

Agreed, it’s crazy how people have him borderline top 5 when he led his team to barely 30 wins while being a terrible defender and leader. A lot of empty stats last season when the game was down by 20+ in the first half.

If the Lakers were down by 20 in the first half, was LeBron supposed to give up because of how putrid everyone was playing?
I dont get how he put up empty stats.
He put up 29.5/9.1/5.6 in Losses and 31.3/7.0/7.0 in Wins.
Keep in mind the Lakers [With LeBron on the court] were +/- -9.8 Points/100 when they lost. You may be thinking Holy Smokes, but Luka was -14.9 and Giannis -10.5, meaning on average, the Lakers [in their losses] played better with James than the Bucks and Mavericks did with their best players on the floor.
