Mathurin’s gotta long road to get to Paolo. Even with his streak he’s still scoring a chunk less per game than him and the playmaking difference is enormous, plus the physicality, rebounding, defense potential etc. Mathurin might work his way into an argument for best shooting/scoring rook of year but Paolo clearly looks better and more effective all around imo.

I still think Paolo is going to win ROTY, just saying that he was closing the gap before Paolo had the big game yesterday.

Mathurin has a good chance for 6th man though.

Yeah, he probably has no business winning that for real but there aren’t that many good candidates and he’d be a more interesting story. Ben’s fun to watch and got wild talent but he’s been really one dimensional and not all that efficient at that dimension after the up and down streaks are factored in.

Guy like Norman Powell or Brogdon is probably a better choice—similar sized role but been steadier despite more general responsibilities for better teams—but Ben could sneak in if he ends up with 20+ppg. Helps that guys like Clarkson, Poole, and Herro are starting quite a bit these days and won’t qualify.

Nice to see Sochan get invited to the Rising Stars game. At least we'll have someone there during All-Star Weekend

Nah

Paolo has the debate in points, rebounds, assists and defense.

There's no rookie close in all of that.

Hit and miss. He's quick and gets to the rim so effortlessly, but often struggles finishing in contact. He's a bit of a streaky outside shooter but his form is good and you feel that eventually he will get to above league average in this area. His decision making seems to be improving and he's had some nice games recently where Killian has been off the floor and he has distributed well, although still suffers from a lot of careless turnovers. His defense needs a lot of work. Overall I think the majority of Pistons fans are satisfied with where he's at now but understand that a lot of development is still needed.

Chet kinda made the ROY debate kinda boring. I like Matheruin but no one has been close to Paolo this season. If Chet had put up good numbers and made an impact with a good OKC team, there may have been a discussion. As of now, it would take a Paolo robbing a bank and getting put in prison for him to not take this award.

Eason with 12 offensive rebounds and a humongus stat line.

....while playing 19 mins as per usual.

The fact that Silas has a job in this league is the most baffling thing I've seen.

That's an understatement. It's not even close.

Tari is the only non center in the top 20 for offensive rebound rate. Now part of that is that he has the yips bad around the rim, but still cool lol

I did notice this last night. He had 5 offensive boards on one play because he kept missing the tip-ins but man is he aggressive and is a quick leaper.

So basically he's exactly like what everyone expected in year 1?

Even when he wasn't blocking shots, he was such a deterrent at the rim. Raptors were scared to shoot when he was around.
