Iguodala on white players: It ain't too many of ya'll that are really good

Mentioned to Donte DeVincenzo, but I can't fit that all in title.
I'm not posting this with any bad intent, so please don't derail by going after each other on this thread. I'm simply posting because I found this comment interesting, and was wondering what you guys think of the actual statement (as in... is it true or not for example).
What I find more interesting is Jokic is white, and the best player in the game. As is Luka, who could go down as the LeBron of his generation eventually. Is the perception among athletes that Euro white players aren’t “white” possibly? The league seems to be becoming more global, so I imagine we will see a lot more diversity in the coming era. I could see in 10 years many more Latin, Euro, Asian players for example.

Iggy's comment would hit with more impact if he specified white Americans. Who's the best white American player since John Stockton? Kevin Love?

I think he means American White Boys? I would agree to an extent. Hayward is still pretty good.

He’s right/it’s not that deep but I’m sure we’ll be getting some White Lives Matter activists in here to tell me that’s racist.

Yea, pretty much. The list is something like Love - Hayward - Korver - JJ Redick - Mike Miller.
With Nash being Canadian and even guys like Kidd and Blake Griffin having a black parent it makes it tough.

Yep, it's truly amazing how much division has been created. We're at the point where everyone is a victim of something now. There are even homosexuals who are fighting for the right to just be gay and not have gender reassignment surgery.

Whenever I see/hear anything(particularly a critique) about "white" folks, I always take it to mean they're talking about US born whites, aka "foundational whites".
They look at international players differently, under a different context.
While its almost impossible to have a discussion about race without some mental midgets screaming racism, the disappearance of the US born white player is interesting. You'll hear stories from players abroad about how rough their areas/lives were growing up, how in their despair they found basketball and clung to it as a form of a escapism. Maybe US whites dont face the same desperation to escape their lives, and the ones that do, aren't interested in hoops and play other sports. Maybe you need that hyper intense desire to hoop in order to make up for the lack of athletic talents of their more melanated counterparts lol, I gotta be careful with what I say here, this place really isn't made for more than talking ball. Dont want to get too deep into this, not before I see where people dip their toes.

If it could be respectfully done I do think this would be a really interesting discussion. The disappearance of more star AMERICAN white players. Like.. there are plenty of them in the HOF from older eras. Is it different sports taking the focus?

Yeah, probably. There was Mullin/Stockton/Bird at that time, but really only guys like K Love, Hayward, D Lee as potential AS caliber players since then. Herro is probably currently the best. For white guys in general though, you do have those multiple top 5 players currently and other top 10's in Dirk/Nash within the past decade.

In terms of American white players, yeah. But these Eurobois are killing it. I think an expectation of the next Larry Bird has always loomed over pale America. He really was built like a warrior poet mentally. I think you might need that to make it. Nash too, every time I saw the guy he was bleeding. Canada is close enough.

Is Herro the current best American white player? I’d imagine so?

Baseball has always been the #1 sport for white Americans, and that's still the case (where the majority of MLB is still white Americans, despite it's global nature).

Patrick Kane on Wayne Simmonds:
“He’s really good. I have this funny thing with black players. It’s like, ‘Yo, it ain’t too many of y’all that are really good.’ But he’s good. I’m like, ‘You’re one of the black guys that actually belong at a high level.’”
Can we all just get past seeing any color? We are all just people. Why does it matter?

Yeah, around ~20/5/5 as the current 6th MOY, has to be.

Well with NBA rules, it's true. Even with international players. Jokic and Doncic are complete outliers.

Woah, what you quoted was completely out of line; however, Iguodala said nothing wrong though

If it was said the other way around the would be fines, possibly suspensions.
Not the first time Iggy has been controversial with his statements either.
