Will the Lakers return the favour in 2023?

Posts like this are not aging well. Lakers are only 2.5 GB from pelicans. If Pelicans lose 2 in a row and lakers win 2 in a row, theyll be virtually tied

So are you suggesting that Pels might actually get Wemby and Scoot!?

That pick is a swap, so no. Looks kinda like the Pells will move up maybe 6 picks or so with that swap, if I was guessing now. Not bad for a team with an already nice core like NO but people really need to stop obsessing over the Lakers pick thing.

(They’ll also get like a 10-15% chance at getting Scoot or Vic which is def something.)

Ahh, forgot it was a swap. Pels are one game from being in 10th place though, so it's too early to really tell anything yet anyway.

Haven’t seen this much hype surrounding a prospect since grade 12 LeBron, will be interesting to see if he lives up to the hype.

He definitely looks physically stronger from last year to me. They must've added weights to his training.

Still don't see a 7'5 guy having a long career. Would love to be wrong, but history is our greatest teacher.

Even if he has a 5 year career some teams would still draft him #1 just for the excitement, attention and tickets he would attract
After that he'd probably want a trade anyway

So they're doing very well indeed.

Thanks for the kind reply.

Dumb question. I can't really tell about super tall players like him.
But how is his stamina? Will he be able to go 36 minutes a game in the nba?

He's been playing heavy minutes here from the beginning of the season, and even more because the teamate - Fall Faye - who was playing at the C spot and doing the dirty job (screens, etc) had an acl injury in the end of 2022 (and was not really replaced, Pasecnics has been signed but he's not the same profile at all).

Right now, he's averaging 32mn and you often see him impacting the game in the money time.

Stamina is not a problem, even if he will pass from 40mn played to 48mn (obviously, he won't be playing that long). But he has to take better shots, that's the main thing for now (decision making). Defensively, he's been droping a bit (but again, it has a lot to do with the fact he's at the 5 more often and i really dont think its the best for him despite his size).

We have a mid season tournament next week (like the one NBA is trying to implement) between the top 8 teams of the first phase, it will be interesting to see if he kinda bounce back (in efficiency on both ends).

I mean, most guys in general don't have a long career. Considering there have been like less than 10 guys that height that can even move at all, it's not like there is a real sample size to draw conclusions from.

You never know with these guys, let's say one wants to choose Scoot Henderson over Victor due to health concerns. Who is to say Scoot himself won't be injury prone in the NBA? look at Jabari Parker, the safe option over Embiid and he was as injury prone or more in the end. There is nothing safe when picking.
Great takes since 2024-04-20

That baseline euro step dunk was unbelievable. Nobody that tall should be able to move that fluidly. From the way he gets open all the way to him barely leaving the ground for the slam.

Please, Adam, I swear I'll never call you an alien again if you give the Pistons Wemby. Unlike the rest of the tanking teams we're actually trying to win games. We're just that bad.

All of the 30 point beatdowns I've had to endure will be worth it in June...that's what I have to keep telling myself
