kinda shocked that Denver just gave up on him for no good reason
he did look completely undisclipined (on the court) at times in Denver and severly lacking in fundamentals and IQ but he was also young, a real unicorn and the son of Manute so that seemed kinda bewildering to me

sure it's a small sample but just looking at how his body has transformed (he was very slim, now he's kinda jacked) and the fact that he's effective it's pretty clear this isn't a "fluke"
whether he can be just a role player or a decent starter or something more than that - it's hard to say at this time

Denver has a habit of picking good ones and then just giving up way too soon, on a 21 year old project with obvious upside
and it's not like that didn't need a player with his skillset and size

Having a 7-foot SG is really tall. Luka recognize the size disadvantage immediately.

Every bad team needs someone to put up stats. Last time I checked the standings Orlando is tied as the worst team in the league.

I've been extremely impressed with Bol, he makes plays on both ends, very hard to shoot over him and has a unique skill set with his size. Orlando got a steal, he looked really good going against Mobley when they played the cavs.

I'm just glad he's proving he can play and produce in the NBA. Forget the fact that the team has a bad record for a second (they have like 3 injured rotation guards, which is unfortunate). There are so many guys on bad teams, who get in games and do absolutely nothing with the time when they are in there.

I still like Davion Mitchell, but he has had a horrendous start to the season. Same with Killian Hayes (who I don't like). Even with consistent minutes, these dudes have been playing terrible and contributing nothing. Not good.

Bol is showing flashes of useful production and is still in his early 20's. And he's proving he can play alongside Paolo and Franz. So even if he becomes a super sixth man type, that's a homerun for Orlando. They gave up nothing to get the dude.

We have 6 injured rotation players, 4 of them guards.

I'd love to see him succeed, his father was one of my favourite players, not because of his on court play but because of his philanthropic nature

What other young player did they give up too early?

Bol was rumored to have a bad attitude and work ethic when he got drafted, he worked hard while on his two way deal and showed a lot of potential in the bubble to get his 2 year deal done. Ss soon as he signed his 2 year guaranteed deal he reportedly went back to partying with instagram models and doing the minimum. Maybe getting salary dumped twice in 1 season while on a $2.1 million dollar salary woke him up, or maybe the fact that he got a 1 year guarantee made him focus this year so he can get paid next?

Ive watched every Magic game at least in part, and Bol has definitely stood out. Playing him at the 3 in a more perimeter role seems to be his calling, but he hasn't looked bad against bigs as well.

He's great on the weak-side, and his length disrupts everything. Making guys shoot over him and staying on his feet is important, and so far he's done just that. I've also loved what I've seen from him as a ball handler.

ORL has essentially thrown out lineup that are all switchable, and having 3 guys in Wagner, Poalo, and Bol out there being able switch 1-5 is really cool.

ORL lineup with Wagner, Bol, Banchero and WCJ is shocking at 1st, 4 6'10"+ who can shoot and can put it on the floor, all are mobile, but as the game advances players start learning how to attack them and defend them.
While he has his problems, he's a serviceable player, he shouldn't have been buried like he was in DEN.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

Yeah, I have always like his dad, he should have been a Hall of Famer just because he is the only NBA player to have more blocks than points

He couldn't really guard anyone (expect for occasional block) - too slow for the small guys, too weak/fragile to guard centers and offensively a black hole, so he didn't really have a path to any meaningful minutes while in Denver.

The hype around him was insane coming into the league, for really no good reason.

He looks like if he can stay healthy he can be a legit rotation player.

Western Conference is harder. Ask Caruso or Donovan Mitchell.

If Wembayama is “Game of Thrones”, Bol bol is “Lord of the Dragons”

perhaps I misspoke, I didn't mean nessescarily young players but assets in geneal
guys that were still young enough to improve especially since they haven't been given a real chance or a proper role and went on to succeed in bigge roles for different teams

yeah, he def looked like he had an attitude problem but I'd imagine a better coach than Malone might have done better
my point was that unless he has done something other than just being undiscplined or silly...

a guy with his ability to run the floor, shoot the 3, dribble and block shots (with his size and pedigree)
there's no good reason to give up on a 19-20 Year old, it's just bad asset managment because the potential was obviously there

i mean Denver saw the hypothetical huge upside as well, I'd much rather keep a roster spot for a raw, partying out of control natural freak like Bol than on just another mediocre prospect (with higher floor, let's suppose)

he had a decent chance to be a complete bust but also a chance to be a real difference maker I wouildn't have given up on that personally, certainly not at this age.

I feel like Malone just hated him cuz he's a square and Bol made a couple of "street" plays that Malone didn't like

I remember that first preseason game where he had like 15/10 with 5 blocks
you just don't give up on that imo

anyway good on Orlando and time will tell whether he can actually be a difference maker in the league and stay healthy
i'm rooting for him personally, probably cuz of his dad but who knows :)

p.s - If he "woke up" because he was cut that means there were other ways to "wake him up" as well
I have no trust in Malone tbh, so sick that u guys are stll stuck with him
