‘It’s disrespectful’ — Mark Cuban doesn’t like the latest Luka Doncic mural in Deep Ellum



A new painting in Deep Ellum is causing quite a stir. On the side of St. Pete’s Dancing Marlin, a neighborhood bar and grill, muralist Preston Pannek hung a painting of Dallas Mavericks phenom Luka Doncic. Rather than just featuring a likeness of the Slovenian superstar, it includes a message.

The painting shows Doncic holding a sign over his head that reads, “PLEASE SEND HELP,” with some of Doncic’s recent astonishing stat lines surrounding it. It’s a sentiment that many Mavericks fans have expressed this season. However, not everyone is happy with the artwork, most notably Mavericks’ governor Mark Cuban.

“It’s disrespectful,” Cuban wrote in an email to Pannek, which the artist shared with Mavs Moneyball. “But it’s your choice to do what you want. If that’s the way you want to be a fan. Go for it.”

Truth hurts. Cuban is a b*tch.

They showed a graphic when we were playing the Blazers. When Luka is in the game our offense would rank 1st in the league, it would rank 30th with him out. Add to that in the 5 games Luka has missed (all losses) Dallas' defensive rating was a putrid 123.8.

Cuban can go suck an egg, I have heard rumors both Green and Finney-Smith might both be back next game though so that might be some help coming

Cuban really has gotten soft after his early years as owner when he would get fined regularly for criticizing the refs.

Lol why are you so mad at him? I was hoping fans of other teams would argue the point that this is disrespectful to other Mavs players and Luka doesn't need help. The longer it takes for him to build a good team around Luka, the better it is for everyone else.

Cuban has always been an overrated owner that doesn't do a good job of surrounding his superstars with talent. Dirk could have used more help and Luka has it even worse.

He made his money by selling his defective company to Yahoo when they were throwing stupid money around during the tech bubble. Ever heard of broadcast.com? I didn't think so

I've heard the same. He passed on some really good deals in Shark Tank too. No way a tech guy like him should've passed on Ring. I've never got the feeling that he was that savvy.

It is disrespectful and of course he should stick up for his roster…

I have read about Broadcast.com. Turns out Mark Cuban didn't found that company even though he always portrayed it like he did. When it was sold to Yahoo, Cuban collected a cool $1 billion. The actual founder, Chris Jaeb, only got like $50 million because his stake was diluted to less than 1%.

He said on the full send podcast he’s not profitable. I get that these are all startups and it’s a tv show but he’s been on the show for almost 15 years. If he’s doing this to be a celebrity we have the right to criticize him for being a terrible business person. He’s basically a Kardashian at this point

It is quite possible he is saying this so you don't start digging into just how much he might be earning from getting to be part of and sharing in the profits of all those startups.

Has anyone asked Luka if he actually agrees with what this mural is showing him as saying?

There’s a website which tracks all his stuff. I personally think he talks like a used car salesman. Have you noticed he ends every sentence with “right” as a pseudo question making himself seem correct?

Luka disagrees too I guess.
