It's not officially trade season until we get reports of every team "seeking multiple 1st round picks" for their average starters and role-players.

The fact that the Gobert trade ruined the trade market makes dudes like Poeltl look like they actually have elite value, and he doesn't.

Ya they're both laughably stupid but at least in the Raptors case, it means we don't wanna trade OG. Poeltl is a free agent and most likely leaving the Spurs in the offseason so it's kinda different.

That’s a high asking price for a UFA who can just be signed outright in the offseason.

Seems like a high asking price but you have to start negotiations somewhere. If it ends up being a contending team that trades for him then the pick would be in the late 20's. Make it a 1st and 2nd and it starts to seem more realistic.

The question is if Popovich thinks that Brian Wright (Spurs GM) is Danny Ainge.

But the Raptors only used 1 first round pick to draft him.

Well, if he is worth that as an expiring, then the Jazz got screwed in the Gobert deal.

lol, that was my first though. I can get not knowing the Spur's GM is Brian Wright, but forgetting RC is unthinkable.

Starting high is a negotiation tactic. They'll settle for a 1st, maybe with an additional 2nd, though much of it also depends on who the matching salary coming back is.
