ChatGPT, List me the 10 players who had the most "killer instinct" in the NBA

Post#1 » by TheNG » Fri Jan 27, 2023 8:09 am

I asked ChatGPT who are the players with the best killer instinct in NBA history.

Me: List me the 10 players who had the most "killer instinct" in the NBA

ChatGPT: It's difficult to quantify a player's "killer instinct," as it can be a subjective trait that can be influenced by a variety of factors. However, here are ten players who have been considered to have had a strong killer instinct during their careers in the NBA:

1. Michael Jordan: Known for his competitive drive and ability to take over games in clutch moments.
2. Kobe Bryant: Consistently demonstrated a relentless pursuit of victory throughout his career.
3. Larry Bird: Possessed a unique combination of skill, intelligence, and determination that made him a fierce competitor.
4. Magic Johnson: Had an unquenchable desire to win and was known for his leadership and ability to make his teammates better.
5. Tim Duncan: Consistently led his teams to victories through his dominance on both ends of the court.
6. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: One of the most dominant players in NBA history, his scoring and leadership were key factors in many championship teams.
7. Shaquille O'Neal: Known for his physicality and ability to impose his will on the game, key to Lakers three-peat.
8. Bill Russell: His relentless competitiveness and defensive dominance were key factors in the Boston Celtics' dynasty of the 1950s and 1960s.
9. Wilt Chamberlain: his scoring and dominance was undeniable, and his competitive drive was legendary.
10. Hakeem Olajuwon: his footwork and agility made him one of the most unstoppable forces in the league, with his competitive drive and leadership key to Rockets back-to-back championship.
It's worth noting that this is not a comprehensive or definitive list, and there are many other players who could be considered to have had a strong killer instinct in the NBA.

Do you agree with ChatGPT?

This entire forum is just ChatGPT talking to itself. Has been for over 12 months now. None of us really exist.

i don't like that the list, i assume, is in an order as if one player had more killer in him than another. put them in a random shuffle.

but i'm glad for once someone has seen fit to leave lbj off a list

What if killer instinct is a measurable thing and ChatGPT (whatever that is) actually got it in perfect order?

If ChatGPT is so smart, then how come they're not factoring in how their post is rolling off of my back. But maybe it isn't and I don't know it. :/

Keep in mind that its database is purposefully a couple of years old, so asking questions about current things isn’t gonna work well. One of the main purposes of this is to understand complex questions and to answer as human-like as possible.

Can't be.

ChatGPT actually knows to say Kareem was dominant instead of "dominate".

People have different definitions of what killer instinct even means. Agreeing on that is a discussion in and of itself. For me I’d say these things are killer instinct traits

- wanting to dominate an opponent no matter the scoreboard, external factors, etc. and look for weaknesses and exploit them without “feeling sorry” or letting up
- relentless drive and focus, constant “on go” mentality. Not too high/excited or low, never satisfied.
- ultra competitiveness
- since it’s a team sport, a part of it too is riding up your teammates to have a heightened level of killer instinct too

Honestly it’s very hard to judge unless you follow a player closely and it’s tough to compare.

Bill Russell has it. Most winners have it.

From Russell’s book - Russell's Second Law: You got to have the killer instinct. If you do not have it, forget about basketball and go into social psychology or something. If you sometimes wonder if you've got it, you ain't got it. No pussycats, please. The killer instinct, by my definition, is the ability to spot—and exploit—a weakness in your opponent. There are psychological subrules in this category.“

I don't know what the hell ChatGPT is but to answer the question.... Luka has the biggest killer instict of any player today. Old school mentality. And he's European.

Also, Tim Duncan? Are we just attributing killer instict = winning now? Tim Duncan didn't go out for blood or want to destroy his opponents. He just did his job and won. Totally not the same thing.

It doesn’t even know Ron Artest and Meta World Peace are the same person. Someone ask it about the Pandas Friend.
