Basically, there's this tinfoil hat theory that because they are classified as entertainment, they can legally fix and manipulate outcomes. So of course people run with this and use it to fuel rumors that it's all rigged. Total nonsense, but people will believe anything.

“Registered” where as an entertainment company? Is that the IRS business code the legal entity uses? Is that one of the enumerated business purposes in the corporate charter? Because that’s not really how this works.

I don't think that means it's legal to fix games

NBA is mostly about entertainment and refs usually do what they can to make sure you are entertained. Not sure always if this no defense three point chucking league entertains me anymore.

Fortunately for pure basketball there is FIBA tournaments and Euroleague.

I don't know how some think being in the entertainment industry = free to fix the game...
