Calling it now.
Its over in the west. Writings on the wall, if it hasn't been for a while. Dame would have to be nuts to stay in Portland now, and I get the deadline was too soon, but by the summer, once the Blazers have been in the lottery and every teams gotten better (again), he's gone.
Just a matter of who pulls the trigger and has the contract to match.

It's not going to happen. Dame doesn't want to leave, and the franchise isn't going to force him to.
Not every player prioritizes hopping on the bandwagon to try to chase rings or team up with their buddies.

The potential suitors would have to gut their rosters in order to get Dame as well. The amount of players that need to just match salary would be more than difficult.

I actually just dont think he cares about playoff success that much. I havent even really seen him make much effort to get guys in portland either.
its easier to just say "roster sucks" than to for him to actually dig deep, do more of the little things it takes like sacrifice and expanding his game like it would on a great team.

Seems to me, there may be lots of movement now before and after the draft. There's lots of trades that still "need" to happen.

Yes, difficult. Not impossible. Teams will be more than willing to gut their roster of mid players for a chance at Dame. Dame + one other superstar + no depth is no different than many other trades in NBA history. You get the 2nd superstar, then fill in the pieces for the next year.

On a separate note, I always thought their best team was back in 2014. Dame-Matthews-Batum-LMA-RoLo, MoWill CJ Barton off the bench. All four starters played 82 games which is unthinkable these days. Somehow they hit the Spurs and their season ended early.
It's sad that they didn't spend their money wisely during the cap spike throwing out stupid contracts to Crabbe Turner etc. They were never the same team after that.

I guarantee that your guarantee isn't guaranteed regardless of you saying it's guaranteed.

Would it be in the Blazers best interest to trade Dame? Probably.
Will it happen? No.
You don't understand how businesses work. As long as Dame is turning a profit, .500 ball is fine for ownership. There is zero incentive to trade away a player bringing in $75M+ a year because he's making $45M/year.
