Pretty cool, but I thought maybe he made a jump shot

But I thought Philly and it's fans were a toxic wasteland that destroyed Ben Simmons?

Both things can be true at the same time. A fanbase can definitely turn toxic towards one player while being very supportive towards another. It all has to do with perceived expectations, imo. Besides, claiming that a fanbase is always toxic all the time isn't very logical. The world isn't that black and white.

Are you still trying to say Philly messed up Ben Simmons lol? His performance this year, should leave no doubt that the dude had way more problems than dealing with Philly.

Thybulle is a very smart and nice dude. Hope he will be able to stay in the NBA.

Thybulle would have had a better career if he was in the nba 20 years ago. He really does need to nail the corner 3 like Bruce Bowen did.

I believe that it is 100% evident that Ben Simmons was in no place to play last year with Philly or with any other team. So, yeah, all the people who were accusing him of faking injuries or using his mental health as an excuse were clearly wrong, imo. I can't see how one can watch Ben Simmons play right now and still think that it's the same guy he was in the past. He's a shell of his former self.

Snitched on himself, he must be a lockerroom cancer revealing all secrets. Should throw the book at him for vandalism!

That's sarcasm.

Yup, and that's on him. That's on his crew for babying him his whole life, making it seem like he never needed to get better in anything. That's on him for not learning how to take constructive criticism, and resisting the Sixers attempts to develop his jumper and confidence, during his red shirt year. No one else to blame but Ben Simmons.

I don't see what your reply has to do with my argument. I don't know if you remember my arguments from last year but I never, ever said that Ben Simmons was some great player or anything of that sort. I never tried to defend him or say that he didn't deserve criticism for the way he played in that Hawks series. I have generally always thought of Simmons as a flawed player, especially on the offensive end. I still remember disagreeing with Sixers fans who said that Ben Simmons not shooting any 3s at all was smart. I always maintained that doing what Giannis does (taking wide open 3s even if you're not good at it) is a much better way to go about it.

My point was always this: Accusing Ben Simmons of faking mental health issues was both inaccurate and, more importantly, heavily damaging to the way that mental health is perceived among sports fans. It brought the discourse around mental health back a number of years and could potentially undo the progress that was made after DeRozan and Love spoke out about their mental health. That was my beef with that situation. Ben Simmons was clearly not healthy enough (both physically and mentally) to play last year and the narrative that he was faking it all was an extremely damaging one. That's why I constantly pushed back against that narrative.

You wanna criticize Ben Simmons for his lack of development as a player, go at it. I'll be right there with you. But the mental health stuff? Nope, that was both inaccurate (as has been proven by Brooklyn's medical team and his play this year) and a dangerous narrative that should face pushback.

I miss the days when Andre Roberson was a solid nba starter for a contender. I really do.

Got a little teary-eyed watching that. Screw the corny player's tribune op/eds. That was real spit for my illadelph brothers n sisters.

Mattise is a mensch and I'm sad to see him go. If his game were half as big as his heart he'd be in GOAT conversations

Thybulle is a great cat, went thru a lot as a kid so I am rooting for him...hopefully a change of scenery can unlock something for him, otherwise he's a pretty good case study of where the NBA is today - a GREAT multi-positional perimeter defender that can't get minutes because he's a zero offensively
