The poll was done after LeBron became the all-time scoring leader last week.

On a less serious note PPP once again tested whether people think Michael Jordan or LeBron James is the greatest basketball player of all time in the wake of James breaking the all time scoring record last week. And despite that record it’s still not competitive- Jordan wins out 58-15. It was 77-14 in 2015 so James’ success over the last eight years has led to a little more ambiguity on the question but MJ still has the clear advantage.

Good to see the public who voted used common sense.

Casuals shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Nor should they be allowed to buy tickets near the floor. Both of these should be reserved for us (most of us anyhow).

He is the GOAT everywhere except the PC board which is literally filled with Lebron fans.

Never take the opinions on there seriously when it comes to this topic.

The official Lebron thread on there has 180 pages, pretty sure no other thread for any other player has 30 pages.

This shouldn't surprise anyone; LeBron came closer than anyone else to dethroning the GOAT, but even sustained marketing and press onslaughts weren't enough to sway public opinion at-large. He'll have to settle for top-three status alongside Kareem, which is incredible and amazing. Imagine being at-worst the third-best person to ever do something.

One could argue about basketball skills all day long, but as long as 99% of the world population knows Jordan and perhaps 5% of the population outside NA has heard the name Lebron other aspects of 'greatness' come at play... Messi, Djokovic, Federer, C Ronaldo, Neymar, Serena Williams(?), Lewis Hamilton(?) are all bigger name than Lebron. No-one on the planet was bigger than Jordan.

Its a pitty for little Lebron Jimmy and his corporate masters that MJs career was thoroughly documented in video. Only thing kids have to do is youtube. And then...well, you know. Some of 'em even become angry when they understand how the corporate machine tried to fool them that the traveling bricklaying stiff was even in the same realm as Jordan.

Lebron thinks MJ is the GOAT and spent most of his life modeling himself and chasing after that man, he wears 23 for a reason. 6 championships, 6 finals MVPs, 10x scoring champ, 5 MVPs, a NCAA championship, even 2x dunk champ.

Lebron is great but I don’t see how anybody besides the biggest stans could put him over MJ, Lebron being personally nicer and more socially conscious isn’t something I factor.

It's funny how you'll find posters here who blabber about many casuals voting and that their oppinion shouldn't matter, or that majority is not well informed, but when we discuss how broken the 3pt spamming and no defense game we have now really is, then they allude to how popular the game has been these years and that this proves there is nothing wrong with it, suddenly casuals matter a lot!
