Would love to see him leave the NBA, but I think CEO of Disney is a step down. CEO's come and go, but sports commissioner is kind of a lifelong position. Seems like fake news to me.

I still think it's too big a gap: you're talking about a "lifelong" position versus something that's probably like a 5-year expectancy. Am I right? I don't usually follow this kind of news, but that's my impression. I just don't buy that he would leave for this reason.

Well, same as NBA players, it could depend on money. NBA commish you make about $10 million and Disney CEO $25+ million plus a bunch of stock options, and probably a big exit package if you leave or get fired.

But yeah, if you have a lifelong job at $10 million and are a huge NBA fan, it would be hard to walk away.

I know this is an unpopular sentiment around here but I like Adam Silver and think he's a great NBA commissioner.

Fans blame him for all sorts of things that aren't actually his doing or under his control. In most cases the thing we're yelling at him for is actually decided by the CBA, which is negotiated between the Players Association and team owners or governors or whatever they are.

Disagree, but the play-in has been amazing. And that's coming from someone who hasn't watched a single play-in game. It's just made the regular season much more interesting.

EDIT: I think I may have watched the Patrick Beverley game. His post-game antics just erased the game from my mind, though, so I'm not 100% sure.

I would say "so he could ruin them too" but Disney has been crap for a long time now.

Yeah, he is 60 though, so not sure how much longer he will want to work. If he is actually in the running for Disney CEO, he must be interested, though I don't know if this rumor is true.

CEO at Disney though, probably has more power in a nutshell if not talking lifelong...like year to year.

But I kind of have a hard time seeing them being that interested in Silver. You really need to understand business, finance, public companies, annual reports, speaking to shareholders, etc, to be a CEO. He is like a lifelong NBA guy I think. I'm sure Disney would want someone with more practical business experience. Non NBA-business that is.

Maybe. Either way, I would be shocked if he ended up at Disney.

This makes no sense. Silver runs a business with 1,000 employees where his main job is to negotiate contracts, and he's going to be hired to run a company with 200,000 employees where his main job becomes managing people?

Disney as a company is worth much more than the NBA

Just depends on what his ambitions are. Disney is a significantly larger company than NBA, to the point that it's almost not even comparable. So if he's into that, as well as the $$$$$ that will come with it, I can absolutely see him taking it.
