How does the GB see Paolo?
Magic fan here. We obviously love him on our board, but I’m interested in knowing what the general board thinks of him. Do you see a AllStar or a Superstar? Maybe neither?

He plays in Orlando. No one sees him.
Just kidding, but I haven't caught a lot of games so I can't really comment. So maybe I'm not 100% kidding

He seems to project an average starter level player. I think Walker Kessler is better personally.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

Nothing at all. Orlando don’t have national recognition.

Re: How does the GB see Paolo?
My guess is most people havent seen much of him except for the few games he has played against their team.
As someone who has watched probably around 50+ of his 58 games this year (obviously have bias here as well). Here is what I think of his season so far.
I think his defense is better than what was being projected. It seems like most thought he was going to be this horrible defender and it would be considered really good if he became just a neutral defender. For a rookie I dont think he has been bad defensively. This aint me saying I think he's going to be a future all defense guy though.
I think the big question for him and the difference between probably being a multi all star vs a perennial All NBA level guy will be his jumper. Already you can see the difference in his game when its working and not. When its not working, teams really sag and he kind of plays into their hands and just accepts taking jumpers. When it is working and you can see defenders giving more respect to his jumper, that opens up his ability to show some versatility in his game. And to be clear Im not just talking 3pt jumpers, Im talking the 18ft mid range ones as well.
If he becomes a good shooter, I think he ends up being a perennial All NBA guy.

Great potential and ability. Moves fluidly and smartly for such a young player.
Needs to add a consistent outside shot so they can't sag off him, will open up his ability to draw fouls with his talents getting to the hoop.

No. You’re being honest. Some are going to compare him to others on their team even though they don’t watch him play.

Re: How does the GB see Paolo?
I think he's still under the radar for the most part. He's getting very little attention for a #1 overall pick but I think he's viewed as a guy who only got that status by being part of a weak draft. Not a guy who people think will likely become an mvp caliber player. So I'd say he's seen as a guy that might develop into all star caliber in a few years. Not a future superstar.

Re: How does the GB see Paolo?
It's not hard to see him making multiple All Star teams or All NBA teams given the season he has had, his obvious skill level and the fact that he's still 20.
He ended up being a lot better than I'd anticipated and Magic fans should be very happy with the pick.

Re: How does the GB see Paolo?
I think he was worthy of the #1 pick. Started off the season on fire but seems to have dropped in efficiency. That happens with young players so considering this is still his rookie year I think with his combination of size, athleticism and skill he can still project to be a perennial all star.

He’s the next great Orlando Magic player in line to become a Laker in 3 years.

Re: How does the GB see Paolo?
Τhe magic have their cornerstone. Finally.
With him as the star and wagner as the third option, the only thing Orlando needs is one of fultz, suggs to become a valuable piece so that they can trade one of them(along with picks), anthony and Isaac for an allstar. Then, they can begin contending.
Banchero is a great #1 pick.

Banchero is a great #1 pick.
Take Fultz, Suggs and Cole Anthony and trade them for one actually good actual point guard pls.

Re: How does the GB see Paolo?
I like where his games going. The only reason hes so inefficient is age. hes bullied his whole life and being a child trying to bully adults isnt going to work and although hes very skilled for his size, its not polished enough to carry him. Working out and getting adult strength will make him an all star, if he has any kind of work ethic, he can be something more. A cross between griffin melo and randle offensively.
Where hes better than i thought is defensively. I thought hed be a cone on the perimiter and a pinata on the interior. Hes shown he has the potential to not be the easiest person to pick on in either area. 4 years from now when luka is hunting switches, paolo will definitely not be the guy he is searching for.
I also really like that he doesnt NEED to be involved in pnr to score. thats huge for playoff sucess.

He’s that guy. Legit future all star, and a great cornerstone for Orlando franchise.
