I don't think you beat them on star power so I think you pick a team that is well rounded.

2014 Spurs? 2004 Pistons?

The 2017 Rockets, assuming sound officiating.

2000-2003s Lakers would destroyed them. They wouldn't have anyone who could match with Shaq and Kobe

Rodman Bulls. That would have been the best made for TV matchup.

Imagine Green and Rodman matched up. Wow, the fireworks.

The 2001 Lakers I feel like would have the best chance. Both in terms of match up problems on the offensive end and defensive problems caused by who the hell is guarding Shaq?


Kobe and Rick Fox, Brian Shaw, Ron Harper, Ty Lue...this team had some really good perimeter defenders. You swap out Hoarce Grant for Robert Horry in the starting line up for Match ups and I really like their chances.

I also think which set of rules they play under would have a major effect. If it's the 2000s era rules, then its Lakers in 5. 2015 rules, then Im gonna say coin toss in 7.

Yes the team did have good perimeter defenders for their era, but no one who had the skillset or experience to guard a modern pace and space offense.

They’re great but probably not unbeatable. Just the following season they nearly lost to the Harden/Paul Rockets (and probably would have if Paul didn’t get hurt). I don’t think anyone thinks the 2018 Rockets were unbeatable. They also likely wouldn’t lost at least a game or two if Kawhi didn’t get hurt in Game 1 of the WCF.

Depends on the odds. I'm not a big fan of losing money, so I wouldn't bet much against them, but sports are crazy and better teams lose to worse ones all the time. So if I got juicy enough odds on a team that I think had at least some chance without both KD & Steph getting hurt, I'd put a little down.

2012-2013 Heat would of match up well against the Warriors

No chance. They were a 73-9 teams that added an MVP in his prime. That team was absurd.

A healthy 2017 Spurs team.

I mean they beat them twice in regular season, were getting blown out with Kawhi in the playoffs… but injuries happen and that was that.

Is each team playing as they did at the time: the Lakers are playing 2001 style basketball and the Warriors are playing 2017 style basketball? If that's the case the Warriors win pretty easily.

2000-01 Lakers 3pt attempts (playoffs): 15.9fga, 38.6%

2016-17 Warriors 3pt attempts (playoffs): 32.9fga, 38.6%

LAL 2001 ppg: 103.4

GSW 2017 ppg: 119.3

No matter how much they gave the ball to Shaq they'd never be able to make up that scoring difference. That was also the last good Draymond shooting year: 4.6 3's per game @ 41% in the playoffs. How does Shaq guard that when he's never faced a barrage of perimeter shooting at anywhere near that level? The Lakers would get 3pt volumed to death.

In a game where 2 teams are taken in a time machine to a neutral location and are forced to play immediately almost no team is going to beat the Warriors because their 3pt shooting volume and efficiency is going to dwarf their opponent. Every team prior to 2010 would be at a huge disadvantage.
