Seems like 6MOTY is a two-horse race. Who do you got?

Tough to say. Quickley has been awesome the last month or so, although he has been starting. Brogdon hasn’t started 1 game and has been consistently good the whole year.

Does Quickley having an awesome last quarter of the season erase the fact Brogdon was better the first 3 quarters of the season??

Different rosters and position grouping strengths but Quickley’s +8.1 on/off net looks a lot better than Brogdon’s -2.5.

It'll most likely be Brogdon. Dude's just a humble, class act and the media love that he's sacrificed his ego- for the better of the team.
(not that he ever had any 'ego' in the first place)

Its really a 3 man race between Brogdon/Quickley/Portis. You can make an argument for all 3 but the fact Brogdon has been a true 6th man all season coming off the bench every game gives him the edge. Portis and Quickley have been able to inflate their numbers slightly with some high usage games as a starter.

Brogdon is an assassin. 44% from 3 - ridiculous!

portis. hes averaging a double double and shooting very well from everywhere. there are tons of starting bigs that cant get these numbers. His team is the #1 seed in nba, 28.5 dboard % 9% oboard. has had to play through more injured teammates than the other two guys here. portis. tired of guards winning this.

Only your stats from games you didn't start should count for this award.

Brogdon, easily

I say Brogdon, easily. Brogdon's stats (traditional and advanced) are pretty much categorically better and he plays for the better team.

I've watched Quickley closely all year but haven't really watched Brogdon. Maybe the argument you could make for Quickley is that he has been more valuable to his team off the bench and can on occasion morph into the primary scorer on the floor (a la Lou Will), which I understand.

Case for Brogdon: Super efficient offensively, elite percentage from 3, played all games off the bench unlike IQ who started a bunch of games, consistent from beginning of season to end. Higher PER, TS%.

Case for Quickley: Way better defensively, better plus minus numbers (actually leads the whole Knicks team in plus minus), coming on strong late in the season, missed only one game entire season. Grades higher in advance stats like WAR (32nd in the league), overall Raptor.

I think Quickley has a stronger overall case, but Brogdon will probably win it cuz the voters will just look at the basic stats and see that Brogdon had more efficient numbers without taking into account overall impact and defense. 6moty is mostly an offensive award unfortunately.

Am I missing something here between Brogdan and Quickley? Brogdan is averaging more points, assists, and rebounds, with a better fg%, 3pt%, and all in fewer minutes per game? How would this even be a discussion?

On the surface it looks like Portis has a better case than Quickly particularly because of the rebounding, but even there Brogdan is way ahead in most of the advanced stats (VORP, BMP, WS, WS/48, TS%) while playing similar minutes.

I don't see an argument for anyone other than Brodgan.

Wouldn't C.Wood be in the conversation? 16.6/7.3/1.8 in 51.1

Would be interested to know the last time a sixth MOTY award went to someone on a non-playoff team.

Quickley is the better defensive player, he wins it.

Malik Monk deserves a mention as well, he's been killing it off the bench for the Kings all season.
