Worst regular season by far, and it's not like it's remotely close to who is second. Like the NBA's horrible regular season would be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th if the intensity could somehow be split up.

Baseball somehow manages to do better for having a more meaningful regular season, and they play twice as many games.

no, baseball is still to slow for me. NFL is alrite but has far more breaks. I'll still take the NBA above all other sports leagues.

MLB is probably in the worst position

Their viewership is the oldest and has been declining for years. They are the least innovative and just now changing the rules adding a “pitch clock” to speed up their very slow game.

I guarantee the NCAA championship was more watched than any regular season game for any of the big four sports as well

The nba product is online now. Its not the profitable part, but people engage on boards like these and social media exponentially more than the other sports. more people follow ja morant's gun thing than the memphis grizz and what morant do on the court. its just where young people are right now and the NBA accomodates.

also a byproduct of nba fans not being able to watch live because of timezones

A lot of the allure of the nba is off the court, with the draft, trade deadline, free agency, none of the other leagues come close to the coverage and attention the nba draws from that.

With the changes MLB has finally implemented, yes I would say the NBA has the worst product.
I've turned so many games off this season because the flopping, playing for whistles, ignoring rules like carrying, and Charmin soft foul calls just make it unwatchable at times.
It's not even like watching a competitive sport anymore. It has more of an exhibition feel to it.

It's hard to worse than the MLB in the regular season but I think we've fallen far enough where it's now a debate. Playoff baseball is usually pretty great as well, so you could argue that the NBA has the worst product. It's not just the load management, these late-season games feel more pointless than ever thanks to the play-in. Any team that wants to make the play-in makes the play-in. It's hard to get excited about teams fighting for the sixth spot when you know they get two more chances if they come up short.

I love the NFL, but they would kill to have the international appeal that the NBA has. The NFL is certainly bigger in the USA (not sure about Canada), but they want that global appeal that the NBA enjoys.

The MLB AND NHL aren’t even worth mentioning. The NHL has gone the way of boxing. It’s completely niche now. The MLB has been dying a death of a thousand cuts for years. Just in my lifetime, the MLB has lost its top AND subsequently second spot in the US to the NFL then the NBA.

Yes. It's honestly almost unwatchable at this point. I used to watch games everyday and other teams play, now I only really watch Knicks and Nets until the playoffs. MLB implementing the pitch clock with games being faster and about 2 and 1/2 hours will certainly help the product for them. The NBA just isn't the same, it doesn't have that same feel and authenticity it once had.

The Super Bowl specifically draws massive ratings, but in general, interest in the NFL definitely isn’t on the same level as the NBA.

It’s not unlike how here in the US the World Cup or Olympic Games when it comes to soccer can put up huge numbers, but the sport as a whole still lags fairly significantly when it comes to general interest.

Where are you getting those numbers from?

500 million people can watch the NBA in China per year. Thats more than the population of the United States.

There is no comparison for the NFL and the NBA. Basketball is a global sport. Football is not.
