So I was just curious what it would look like to re-draft the 2017 NBA Draft, so I went down the list of players from said draft, and it turns out there's only 32 players active in the NBA from this class. I went ahead and made my own re-draft here. Let me know what you'd change. BTW I only included players that are active in the NBA. I did not include players like Justin Jackson, DJ Wilson, etc.
1. Philadelphia 76ers: Jayson Tatum
2. Los Angeles Lakers: Donovan Mitchell
3. Boston Celtics: De’Aaron Fox
4. Phoenix Suns: Bam Adebayo
5. Sacramento Kings: Lauri Markkanen
6. Orlando Magic: OG Anunoby
7. Minnesota Timberwolves (Traded to Bulls): Jarrett Allen
8. New York Knicks: Kyle Kuzma
9. Dallas Mavericks: John Collins
10. Sacramento Kings (Traded To Blazers): Malik Monk
11. Charlotte Hornets: Derrick White
12. Detroit Pistons: Josh Hart
13. Denver Nuggets (Traded to Jazz): Jonathan Isaac
14. Miami Heat: Markelle Fultz
15. Portland Trail Blazers (Traded to Kings): Luke Kennard
16. Chicago Bulls (Traded to Wolves): Lonzo Ball
17. Milwaukee Bucks: Dillon Brooks
18. Indiana Pacers: Monte Morris
19. Atlanta Hawks: Thomas Bryant
20. Portland Trail Blazers (Traded to Kings): Isaiah Hartenstein
21. Oklahoma City Thunder: Dennis Smith Jr.
22. Brooklyn Nets: Chris Boucher
23. Toronto Raptors: Vlatko Cancar
24. Utah Jazz (Traded to Nuggets): Zach Collins
25. Orlando Magic (Traded to 76ers): Frank Ntilikina
26. Portland Trail Blazers: Luke Kornet
27. Brooklyn Nets (Traded to Lakers): Edmond Sumner
28. Los Angeles Lakers (Traded to Jazz): Ish Wainright
29. San Antonio Spurs: Simone Fontecchio
30. Utah Jazz (Traded to Lakers): PJ Dozier
31. Charlotte Hornets (Traded to Pelicans): Xavier Moon
32. Phoenix Suns: Kobi Simmons

For the Sixers, I’d pick Fox.
He can run the offense ALL GAME and you can rely on him on crunch time. Fox is also a better compliment for Embiid.
But if Fultz wasn’t injured, I’d pick Fultz 10 out of 10 times. He’s almost the perfect guard in today’s NBA. Can defend multiple positions, can protect the rim, can run the offense, can score on ISO, can run PnR all game and is a 3 level scorer.
Fultz would be playing this role of what Jimmy Butler and James Harden played for the team. A guard who can not only score but can get the ball to Biid at his spot at the elbow or at the rim.
Fultz is what Scoot Henderson right now without any questions with his shooting.

You’d still draft Isaac over players who actually…play?

Yeah cut out the two guys who might as well be injury retired - Isaac and Lonzo - and you have a nice even first round of 30 picks

Still have nightmares about this draft when Donovan Mitchell was at 12 for the Pistons and we were all screaming for SVG to take him but we got...Kennard.

DeAaron Fox kind of re-arranged the order with his playoffs and overall season. Also Derrick White has gone up.
I would still take Bam over Fox though, he's a better two player and his defensive versatility is unmatched
1. Tatum
2. Mitchell
3. Bam
4. Fox
5. Markkanen
6. Jarrett Allen
7. Kyle Kuzma
8. OG Anunoby
9. Josh Hart
10. John Collins
11. Markelle Fultz
12. Derrick White
13. Malik Monk
14. Lonzo Ball (there is still hope and his growth was impressive, he won't fall out of the lottery)
15. Jon Isaac
16. Luke Kennard

A second chance with hindsight and y’all still pass on Tatum

Don't overthink it and just pick Tatum, the best overall player in the draft.
Picking lesser players for fit or playstyle reasons rarely ever works out well.

I will shill for Vazenkov again, you guys probably do not know him, he havent even played in a league yet, but I would rather just have his rights than guys like Kobi Simmons, Xavier Moon, Ntlikina, Kornet, Zach Collins or Cancar.
If I am drafting my 15, not looking at fit :
1. Tatum
2. Mitchell
3. Bam
4. Fox
5. Markannen
6. Jarrett Allen
7. OG Anunoby
8. Derrick White
9. Markelle Fultz
10. Kyle Kuzma
11. Lonzo Ball
12. Dillon Brooks
13. Josh Hart
14. Isaiah Hartenstein
15. Malik Monk
Most guys from 8 to 15 is dabatable IMO

Kuz over OG

OG is painfully overrated, he's supposed to "break out" for a few years now and hasn't and he has had no reason not to. At least Kuz has shown more versatility in his career. Proven to be the #2 option or a role player when needed.
Guess what the advanced stats for OG aren't even that much better than Kuzma

30/30 GMs take OG over Kuz every time.

I guess I will be the first one to say it. Give me Lauri at 4 over Bam. (I think the order for the top 3 should be obvious).
But ya give me Lauri at 4. Dude was flat out amazing this year.

Kind of weird premise to exclude guys who are no longer active. Lonzo Ball is clearly ahead of a lot of guys in the late 20s. You want to include Xavier Moon who was undrafted and just joined the league over a guy who had a 4 serviceable years in the NBA?

What's interesting about this is how quickly the league turns over. Most of these guys are on their 2nd or 3rd teams so even if you get a late round steal, he isn't likely to stick around. (Granted you get value when you trade them)

He was pretty incredible as an isolation scorer and play finisher. But I'm not sure he has a well rounded enough game to pick him over Bam.

Yup. We are looking at what around 10 everyday starters and 7 or so rotation guys. So basically only about 1/4 of the draft from 6 years ago are even rotation guys. Which I guess when you really think about makes sense that there is only a certain amount of spots and rotation spots in the league and its not like we are getting a massive overhaul every year.
But ya I just dont really look at it like this going into each draft. But looking back, you can really see it.
