Him winning an MVP and then not being able to play in the playoffs would be pretty on brand for him.

Sorry Sixers fans. I honestly hope he can play. I want to see a good battle with both teams at their best.
But yeah. This tweet makes it sound even worse...

This guy is who he is year after year. Always injured somehow.

I was never big on Embiid, no matter how well he plays. In modern day basketball with how guys construct their salaries you need guys flourish while still young, contributed massively to an org with their first 2-3 team friendly contracts before that final 2 very unfriendly contract kick in and injury uncertainty increase as they age.
Embiid with his body size is destined to have a shorter career and a shorter prime. With how fast paced the game is today, a 300+ lb center is just not an ideal piece to build around for long term success. A mega star big man who can do the things Embiid does is fun to watch, it's refreshing to see his talent being used as the first option where most teams are tilting towards elite guard/wings plus a blue collar center than a traditional 1-2 punch. However for the sole purpose of winning, that wouldn't be my first choice.

I agree for the most part. Just looking at how big and massive he is - it’s actually amazing Shaq had the longevity all things considering.

Kawhi of the East minus the ships (and conference finals appearances).

Said it all year Embiid or not, Boston is sweeping their way to the Finals except for the 2 hawks games where they were bored

that's a damn shame but it was obvious
unreal cakewalk for the C's and the best series in the East, with two real powerhouses is ruined
wonder what the Embiid fanboys whove been clamoring for 3 seasons that the Joker can't win an MVP (let alone two or three) without real playoff success
that's a weird argument anyway as MVP is a rs award, but by that logic if we're not giving Jokic a pass for being in the playoffs with scrubs and never playing alongside another all-star (unlike basically every other MVP in history) - surely we can't give a pass to Embiid who despite being load managed year after year is always injured in the playoffs..
I mean if u can't complete a season + postseason,I would think that should exclude u from MVP contention, no?

I just don't understand how it's possible that every year he gets some injury exactly in R1? it's not like he starts playing in R1 already injured, tired yeah maybe of course, but he rested in the final games of the season. Maybe the increased defense and intensity in playoffs he just can't deal with that but damn...

My only gripe with some of you Embiid/AD critics is when yall try to make being injury prone seem like a character flaw or some kind personal indictment.
I think the reason hes getting the MVP is that he went all out and didn't preserve his body.
It would be like killing Brandon Roy for being recognized as elite but eventually getting injured. Or what Wade endured during the Heatles run.

Most Sixers fans don't care all that much about him winning MVP directly, we just want him to try less in RS so that he is more rested for playoffs, him finally winning MVP should mean he cares less next year. But at this point maybe it's just bad luck/genetics/whatever and he would still get injured anyway just like Kawhi.

He went too hard this season playing for MVP, should’ve taken plays or games off to preserve his body. RS doesn’t matter.

system need to change in philly. hes doing too much on offense, not enough on D, and using too much energy to beat bum ass teams
