Even before Brent Barry:

Check yourself because your privilege is showing. Representation is always important. What Brent did showed a whole generation of young blonde kids with bowl cuts that they too could win the NBA Dunk contest if they apply themselves and try hard enough

and sons of former NBA players and have gifted athletic ability. BTW love the post!.

I had courtside seats I bought from a guy all the time for face value when the Baby Bulls were a thing. I remember seeing Denver (Carmelo's first time in Chicago) and being next to Boykin's and feeling tall. My point being at that game and up close I watched how much ground Jon Barry covered and realized how much more gifted EVERY NBA athlete is than an average person. Jon was by no means the athlete Brent was and was considered not great by NBA standards but..... man so much more athletic than everyone we generally play with.

Boykins was so fun to watch idk if we’ll ever see a player of his size in the nba again.

He was ridiculously athletic and from standing next to him I think he was shorter than listed even. He was small of course but he knew how to take advantage of that. He was really good. Ashamed to say, during warmups I saw him shooting and I said to myself that man that ballboy has a stroke from 3pt.... oooops. I was sitting with Scoop Jackson that game oddly enough. He was really nice TBH.

In the original NBA sanctioned game on PC and Genesis Lakers vs Celtics, Tom Champers was unstoppable. Much to the point of Barry I guess he was the "white" anomoly being able to just dunk on people like that. It's so silly to me though to put race on it personally. Athletes are athletes.

Agreed on all points.
PC game, too lol.

Also, with Chambers he was awesome with the Suns, too. After his Seattle SuperSonics days.

Chambers is underrated overall. He was great but not top 50 great so we just forget those people right?

A cool podcast with Brent Barry from earlier this year for anyone interested. He’s a funny guy.
