Yep, they had those same open looks against the Bucks (and Knicks/Celtics). Yesterday they did not hit their open shots.

We had those kinds of looks vs the Bucks because of the way Brook defends. Definitely didn’t have them vs the Celtics though.

Not sure why the Heat don't try to mix it up a little by playing Kevin Love. Gordon is feasting on the Heat's small line-ups.

Becaussssseee the winning team rarely makes noticeable adjustments and its completely on the team who lost to figure out why they lost. The adjustments the Nuggets will make will come during game 2 IF Miami gains control.

I was wrong. This won't be interesting finals. This actually could be a sweep. Miami is just too small. They've got manhandled in the zone possesion after possesion.

Remember when he was at like 10/6/4 and some clown said he was exposed then finished the game with 20/12/9

I remember when Embiid got the better of him at the end of a long road trip, ducked Jokic in Denver and then everyone said Joel was better

Why??? They obviously suck, three series seven games. Even against Atlanta they barely squeezed in to the next round.

They had more talent than each of those teams.
I included the front office because the team had enough talent to make a trade for someone like Mike Conley who would have helped them a lot.
Also, I have always believed that Jaylen Brown should have been traded after last season. They could have easily gotten Lillard who would have improved their offense a lot for the playoffs.

I think the more concerning thing for the NBA is that the series might be noncompetitive. I wouldn't underestimate the Heat, but it just seems like a foregone conclusion in addition to there being no compelling narratives between these teams. If Butler's run out of gas, there's just no personality in this series.

Like I wouldn't be surprised if those Game 1 ratings were the highest of the series.

yup, the bubble was the bubble
nonetheless, even if we discount that - only a 5% drop going from the comeback of the Dubs dynasty + the storied Celtics franchise with it's two American superstars to the Heat and Nuggets - something doesn't add up right?

Denver was about dead last in ratings (in the rs I mean) and more than doubled that in recent years with the emergence of Jokic as a superstar (still towards the bottom tho, those late hours are a real killer)

my point was that the networks who own the rights and have the whole enchilada around it, with their famous panelists and basketbfall figures etc - that system of promotion is still in place regardless of is actually competing

casuals are sheep, if it's on their TV sets and they guy they know and love (be it Shaq or Stephen A. Smith for all I care) keeps talking about it and hyping it up and explaining why the Heat and Nuggets are so damn impressive and great (Heat culture! :P) and narratives are being manufactured to draw viewes - it works!

it doesn't matter whose playing, the series get it's "shine" and appeal for being what it is - the NBA finals and the hype train around it

Do you as a fan enjoy a beautiful brand of basketball? If yes, then who cares about the ratings. The year that the Warriors swept the Cavs felt boring too. I remember the poster was Curry/KD/Thompson/Green/Iguodala vs LeBron/Korver/Thompson/Love/Someone Else (talk about a foregone conclusion just look at the names). I honestly don't remember much besides the epic game 1 (James going off ruined by George Hill and JR Smith).

Enjoying basketball and the game growing and flourishing are two different things. I would enjoy basketball even if no one else enjoyed it, and I'd be fine with there only being like 50,000 total fans of the game. But would I have fallen in love with as a kid if that were the case? Most probably not.

Is everyone here aware of the fact that the Nuggets yesterday had a worse 3PT % than the Heat?

The "yeah this-and-that Nuggets' opponent figured some ****" narrative doesn't hold.

Oh, the BS is just beginning. When you win a few championships. Narratives will be invented out of thin air.

Ja morant kind of empowerment? Lol No idea honestly. Maybe louder , more extroverted players than jokic, LA-type primadonna. I love how jokic is becoming as disliked as duncan and dirk by these kind of fans . Stoic domination bothers them.

Atleast Miami fans ain’t banking on there 12th and 13th man (Bamba and Thompson) to be there saviors

It's not a contest

By game 4, Miami fans I'm sure will be wondering what can help their team too, while getting swept. As it goes

By the way, I'm not saying it to be a dick. I just find it funny how many of you were making fun of LA fans for trying to come up with reasons they were losing and things that can be changed. The last 10 pages are all "well Miami missed this many open shots. blah blah shot 1-10". It doesn't matter. Each game is different and an L is an L. Denver didn't play great either
