He's not Jokic.

His teammate was the 2nd pick in last years draft, he's also white. Timme isn't an NBA player.

He's a prime example of why I laugh when I hear people say college basketball plays better defense. Timme dominated college ball but wouldn't score much in the NBA and would struggle to defend.

No? I don't remember Timme ever having 1st year buzz the last two seasons. Not close to draft time, at least.

Now, about the OP. Not all college roles translate over to the NBA. Some archetypes are notoriously unlikely to translate. Timme falls within that archetype. Azuolas Tubelis falls within that archetype. Luka Garza falls within that archetype. All of them have been very high level players in college but they simply do not fit the NBA. They are good basketball players and they can have excellent pro careers on other high level leagues, they just do not fit the NBA.

I could be thinking of someone else but I thought he was highly regarded sometime during his college career (which was longer than I realized at 4 years)

Goes to show how much I’ve been following college hoops in the last several years

I don't really follow college basketball, to be honest. I only follow the Draft and I start getting into the draft in the last month or so of the season. If Timme had hype earlier on in his career or at some point early in a college season, I wouldn't have possibly known about it.
