2K finally did it...They added a friggin battlepass to NBA 2K24

These donkey **** actually added a BATTLEPASS to NBA2k24.....
They're basically adding tiers you can pay every month to get extra rewards...Boosts etc...
So there are different tiers....Highest one is HOF tier in which you pay around 20 bucks a month to get maximum rewards....It's basically money grabbing scheme in it's lowest form there to attract the younger audience who'll undoubtedly be all over this.
So they raised the VC price to upgrade your player in 2K23 to something absurd and now this season pass crap....Gaming has really gone down the **** when it comes to online play.

I am a dinosaur who only plays single player, you know, simulation modes. So it won't effect me, if you were stupid enough to make those piece of s**** mud, fut, myplayer modes into reality, you deserve this at this point.

I dont play FUT all i play is 2K when it comes to sports games. It's mostly me and 4 other friends playing rec 5v5. It's great fun but the prices are absurd. So i do agree that we had it coming. This is the season i hope people collectively express their displeasure. It's gone to far.
Single player still rules.

As long as it doesn't effect the core franchise modes and doing fantasy drafts with custom rosters I'm fine personally, but it's seriously time for another company to take a swing at simulation basketball, because what we have now is barely considered simulation. It falls farther and farther away from what its advertised as every year. Thankfully they keep the part of the game I enjoy alive and microtransaction free, so myself and the other 50 humans on this entire planet that plays PVE basketball games can enjoy ourselves.

I'm going to play MyLeague and I think the only legend I'll put into the rosters is Michael Jordan (because my team always has MJ).
Or should I also put Shaq?
It would be a good experiment to see how today's NBA handles Shaq!
Wembanyama vs. Shaq would be fun.
Whereas in 2k22 and 2k23 I put ALL the legends into a draft along with today's players, and it made it a bit boring because every team had about the same level of talent.
So just put MJ and Shaq this time.

I get the fun playing with friends, but NBA is so bad with 5 humans, controlled bodies runnng everywhere, game always had that floaty weightless on ice controls, and it really shows with more than one human player on team,
These modes should just be free to play while offline modes should be given new care and be seperate games entirely. Like Halo.
Never been online multiplayer guy, I can only feel sorry for those who are. Personally I love sports for simulation aspect, and I also love very slowm dad like strategy games. After 20 years, I rediscovered something called - Football manager... My god, I feel like Futurama Bender - friends, I have found religion... Also purchased Baldurs gate 3. So want to play something, but I am in a hospital for a long time, at least I have tablet..l

My brother played football manager before and it got so addicting he took the CD out and destroyed it
And then bought another FM like a month later.

I've been off 2K Online for years now. Best decision ever when playing that game. Online play in 2K is just a cesspool of sadness...

Roster mods. I don't know how it is with 2k, but I used to be huge NBA live modder, and it was incredibly easy to export player cyberfaces. All you need is roster update and rookie faces mod. And I don't mean fan created faces, which I have no doubt those already exist, but files exported from next game. save 70 dollars, and 2k misses on 70 dollars...

Me too, I've never played Online.
Have no idea if I'd like it, but it might hurt my confidence if there are better players than me, so rather not try.

Couldn't be further from the truth. If your online gaming experience is limited to bad studios like 2k, then yes, you may be able to reach that conclusion. However, Gaming has seen one of its best years this year and there are plenty of games worth playing online in coop or vs.
If you keep buying 2k you will just expose yourself to more frustration. Vote with your wallet.

I’ll stick to being 1 year behind and buying the new 2k games on may/June/July when they’re $5.00 USD during a sale.
Because that is exactly what they’re worth. Like many here I play offline modes to get a quick video game basketball fix. There are just so many better options for gaming.

I played online without paying extra, and do this every 2-3 years rather than all the time like others do. I got good enough and viewed it as an uphill battle that was part of the challenge. But there is a limit where it is just not worth it. Sounds pretty much there.

As someone who has really enjoyed the MyEra mode as of late the intrusive and obnoxious monetization and advertisement of the 2K series is grating. I shouldn't be forced to close the same banner ads for the 352435243 time for modes and upgraded game versions I don't, and won't, play. If I'm not connected to the internet (and thus enjoying an ad-free experience) I get a pop up telling me to connect to the internet. This pop up displays even if I'm in the middle of an offline game, obstructing the court.

LOL no. Micro transactions and monetization at every opportunity is the de facto standard for online gaming and has been for years (shout out to Battlefront 2).
R* is the perfect example of this. Single player DLC for Red Dead 2 never happens in order to support an online mode with slow drip content (including outlaw passes) and a game economy that whiplashes from one extreme to the other, handicapping the monetization potential resulting in no further content for the online mode of a one of a kind open world sandbox. Meanwhile GTA 5 and its online shark card cash cow has been released onto its 3rd generation console while GTA 6 resides in meme status.

I've purchased every one of these going back to NBA 2K7. I don't think I'm getting this one. The past 4 or 5 don't seem to have had any meaningful improvements, and the pay to play just keeps getting worse. I used to enjoy MyPlayer because I actually had fun with that funky style of gameplay (being locked into one player from a baseline perspective), but the story has gotten so cringeworthy and tedious that I wasn't able to make it through the past two. I hope someone else will eventually get the NBA license and do something more than EA has with it.
