Maybe I am off base, but I don’t see him as an impact player, but I said that of other players who landed on the Lakers last year. We all know it is unlikely that Davis will not play 82 games, and it is likely the Lakers got him for cheap. I can’t knock it.

This is a decent signing- he is a skilled big man who can definitely help, especially on offense. However, he has worn out his welcome fast on every team he has played for- don't know exactly why, but that is a big caution flag

Agree. Wood is not an impact player but he does have some strong offensive abilities and I can see him embracing a tertiary role on the Lakers in a way that I could not see him do in any of his previous stops. Assuming Wood is as cheap as we expect, this is a nice pickup for LAL.

He's not so much an impact player as just a guy who can fill a rotation hole and keep it from being a negative impact situation where you have to play guys who really shouldn't get minutes outside of garbage time.

2.7M first year, PO? Yeah, he's getting paid under the table

8th team in 8 years and couldn't get on the court down the stretch when the Mavs were desperate for wins and big man production.

Clearly a talented scorer but teams seem worse off when he's around.

Wanna see how he and AD look on the floor at the same time , especially if he buys into Ham's defensively philosophies even just remotely this could prove solid.

does this mean that he didnt think miami could offer him more money? interesting. This has to be some kind of opinion on if his agent thinks lillard is going to miami. Those were reportedly the teams he was picking between.

One doesn't need to, nor would anyone risk paying him under the table to sign him, he seems to be one of those players whose reputation is not very favorable around the league despite having offensive talent.

Yup. This could very well be his last stop in the NBA if he wears out his welcome again. It's a great opportunity to go play a role as a veteran on a team w championship aspirations. If he does that well, he could find himself getting paid next summer. If not, no team will be willing to take even a veteran minimum risk on him.

Sometimes just putting on that jersey is payment enough

In baseball I always hear about the concept of an "inning eater" in the sense that its helpful to have a guy who can throw a ton of innings even if he's not particularly efficient, because he's saving the arm of the other pitchers in the rotation. Along those lines, maybe Christian Wood can be considered a field goal attempt eater. He'll take and make a bunch of shots, but his impact is pretty much neutral at best. Why would you want this - I'm not quite sure.

As a Laker Fan i think it’s a good signing. But I also recognize he’s probably only good on a bad team. Hoping for the best, but not expecting much.

You want it because LeBron and AD miss a bunch of games in the regular season. Also he can play as a second big next to AD when LeBron's out.
