Update: Embiid picks USA
—————-
Summary of Embiid’s options where he holds citizenship in each:
Cameroon: his home country where he was born and his family is from. Spent his childhood there til age 16.
USA: where he moved to at age 16 and has has spent his adult life. has played his entire bball career in high school, college, and the nba in the USA.
France: never lived or worked there, given citizenship a couple of years ago under “exceptional foreigner” clause. French players think it’s ridiculous he can play for France while having no ties to the country.

It'll be interesting to see what he chooses.
It will say a lot about him and his character.
The France option is frankly ridiculous and shouldn't be allowed.
Picking the USA would be a reasonable choice but I would prefer if he chose Cameroon because it is where he was born and they need him more than the USA does.
It would be a huge boost to that country's morale if he played for Cameroon.

Honestly I hope he picks Cameroon even if it means he never actually plays in a big tournament for them. Just feels right.
That big body of his needs all the rest it can get, anyway.

Got no business playing for France, play for his native Cameroon or for Team USA who actually could use him. Or yeah, just stay home.

With his injury history, and load management during the season he should stay home.

He's been in the US for almost 14 yrs now, almost all his basketball development took place here and his son was born here, do the right thing Joel and play C for us. It would make people on here furious as well.

I would be shocked if he plays for France with this ticking clock recruitment pitch. For sure he’s playing for the US.

Why doesn’t he play for Cameroon? They're in the Olympic qualifiers this time. Not like they don't have a team, whats the excuse?

Ι like it that France sent him a deadline. I hope he commits to them because he's a troll, and then they out-troll him and cut him LOL

Because they have zero shot at a medal he suffered enough embarrassment being on the Sixers and losing every year in the playoffs.

How much rest does he need getting bounced in the 2nd round?

France: Embiid has lot of close family living in France, and I'm sure he has been visiting there quite frequently. He speaks French and I belive cameronians share a closer bond with France as the country is part of "francophone". I wouldn't be surprised at all if he would choose France.
