You guys! NBA basketball is (almost) back!

There are a lot of games on the schedule but I figure this thread can cover the whole preseason. I'll try to update the OP regularly. (But if people end up wanting a new thread for the games each day we can reevaluate.)

Anyhoo... Preseason kicks off this Thursday Oct 5th at noon ET with Mavs vs Wolves from Abu Dhabi. Then most other teams get their preseason underway over the weekend. Please enjoy!

Wow, the Mavs actually get to open preseason. I'm used normally having to wait almost a week after preseason starts before they play their first one

The rookies will be the thing to watch for the Mavs. Kidd claims that Luka, Kyrie, and Grant Williams have starting spots on lockdown. The other two spots are up for grabs and he claims both Dereck Lively and Olivier Maxence Prosper will be given a chance this preseason to take one of those spots. I think Lively taking the starting center role is more likely and they're floating the idea of OMP starting because Josh Green is in a contract year

Excited for this pre-season, especially with all the interesting trades and player movement alongside what could be a fascinating draft class. Tonight's Mavericks/Wolves game even tips off at a decent enough time for me (23:00) so I'll give it a watch. In terms of the Mavericks rotation, I would 100% start Green over OMP from the beginning of the season, but think it's more than fair for Kidd to suggest the 5 spot is there for the taking for anyone.

For Basketball junkies like myself, its about damn time. Only so many highlight packages you can watch on the tube, and media day is always kinda meh.

I'm just hoping we get to see some semblance of the Mavs starting lineup tomorrow, to see what they may have. Williams is a massive upgrade for them, and it will become readily apparent rather quickly I feel.

The Mavs have had success before with older rookies like Crowder, Finney-Smith, and Brunson (who is over a year older than DSJ despite being taken in the draft after him) but none of those guys took the starting job right away

Yeah, that’s fair. I think it’s mostly to do with me being pretty high on Green (especially when he’s chasing good money on an extension) as opposed to being low on OMP but I’m sure he’s gonna see plenty of the court in pre-season to stake his claim in the rotation.

You’re right - his face just looked bloated in the pre game. The quality is awful. Feels like this isn’t even HD
