Serious question as I haven't watched the hawks yet. I see he had a good game one. He's in year three and coming off an efficient 11 point performance. What am I supposed to think about him? Rotation player? Missing piece for the hawks? All star potential?

He looks like a future starter for sure. Only a matter of time before he takes Saddiq Bey's spot in the rotation. He's a tweener to me, but in a good way. He can play the 3-4 depending on the matchups. Obviously, if he had to be matched up with guys like Wemby or Markannen he might have some trouble, due to their size and skill.

Scooped him up in the last round in a few fantasy drafts and very happy about that

The question for him was more about his defense and 3 point shooting, right? How’s that?

Definitely one of the highest leapers in the league. Seems to play with high energy now too.

This is why you dont pay role players $30M per year.
Shout out John Collins.

Nah he's a four that's extremely versatile. Think Ben Simmons esque w/o the ptsd. There's no pf he can't guard except the freaks like Zion, Giannis, etc.
He has abnormal vision and passing skills for a forward. His ball handling is up there too. This guy was never going to pop under Mcmillian and Snyder has him on one. He and Trae are dynamic together. Capela isn't the best froncourt mate imo, but Onyeka and him are really dynamic as well.

Absolutely cant space the floor and a little prone to turn over the ball, but he works so hard on both ends and so efficient you can't really drag him either and exactly the kind of player who can play bigger then he is, which is a good pairing for Trae

Im a bit confused what do you mean by can't space the floor? Are you talking about can't shoot long range 2's and 3's or something else.

I really dont like the look of his jump shot, I mean you have no doubt watched more then me but I don't really rate it on the games I've seen him play

I think he has a pretty good one myself. I know he shoots it at a good clip atleast so far this year under Quinn he has. I think he is 40% for the season so far on 3's on like 3 attempts per game. He was a 44% 3 point shooter at Duke as well if im not mistaken.
If you watched him under Nate then i can see where you are coming from because it wasn't pretty and nate didn't like using him. Small sample size so far but Quinn seems to love the guy which most Hawks fans do to so far lol. His shot looks much better under Quinn as well and the results are showing. I think the move im seeing him do now that i like alot is his little 10 to 15 ft fade away jumper thats starting to get automatic it looks very fluid and hard to defend. It's the last play in this video at around the 1:32 to 1:38 mark or so he's been adding that to his game a good bit more.

I dont like the look of his shot either. It's almost like you can see him thinking through every stage of the shot. But, so far, he's been good enough at it that the defense can't not honor it, which is all they need I guess.
Definitely agree his activity and use of his size are godsends (is that a word?) for that team.
It's plain coaching malpractice that McMillan refused to develop or play him consistently.

Through 12 Games of the SeasonAn unreal (and unsustainable) level of efficiency.

Atlanta got lucky with him since he had severe character issues coming out. I always thought he was slow as hell in college. Surprised he's this good tbh

He looked really good against Philly, smooth and fluid athlete who had good control over his dribble and could hit shots from all over. Everythig he does seems functional in a NBA game, managed to adapt himself and his skills to real game spacing/timing. Looks like he can be a really solid starter for a while and maybe grow into a bigger role with time, depending on how his handle and shooting develop.
