I was thinking about this the other day, is it banner-worthy? Some teams hang banners for making it to the conference finals, taking down the first every league-wide one-and-done tournament might be something they would consider. What do you think?

That would honestly be embarrassing.

Why not? The tourny is harder to win than the NBA finals.

Silver will probably make it mandatory.

The better question is whether or not they'll be as ugly as the court designs.

The success of this tournament depends so much on who wins it these first few years. If the Nuggets or Warriors win it, the almost universal approval of guys like Curry and Jokic mean it will be a big deal. When everyone’s talking about how this proves they’re locked in winners, I could see the banner being hung. The Heat, Mavs, Suns, and Bucks are similar candidates though it’s not as clear of a case. If the Lakers win, Lebron stans will hype it up, while haters will call it micky mouse #2. I expect a lot of drama over hanging that banner when the Lakers have so many wins, yet they want to reward Lebron for bringing them back to respectability. If the Celtics or Sixers or Clippers win everyone will call the tournament a joke. Some small market teams like the the Kings or Thunder who everyone loves should hang the banner, whereas a fluky run by like the Rockets will kill the reputation of the tournament.

Its like that time when Lakers won the championship at the bubble. So the answer is no.

How so?
Everyone gets an automatic bid and you only have to win a handful of games to win it all.
It's like the opposite of winning a Finals.

Might be the only championship banner my team ever gets, so maybe they should.

Depends who wins it. If it is a team that hasn't won much than I could see it.

Came here to say the same thing. If a team that historically has not won anything takes it out then I could see it.

If the franchise puts banners up for East/West conference championships they sure will for this.

the winner should get a photo of adam silver handing the team one of those big-@$$ed cardboard checks they hand out in game shows
