Give it some time. Blockbuster trades tend to have rough starts. The team needs to figure out it's new identity. The Big 3 Heat had a team only meeting 17 games into their first season because their start was so disappointing, still made it to the Finals that year

Bucks made a risky trade that seems to have back fired. They still need to pay him a ton for 3 more years after this one.
Miami probably happy they got to keep Herro, who is outplaying Dame so far.
Celtics look like the biggest winner out of all of this, getting Jrue really solidified their roster.

I wonder how this turns out in the end, so far this is a disaster for the Bucks and there is a ton of pressure for it to work this year, every year after it just gets less and less likely.

We already have one of these threads. Peak general board reactionary bull.

Small guards can really decline fast after they turned 33 years old.

Specially if they didnt train hard in the off season.

Maybe he can turn things together this season but the long term outlook isnt looking very good for the Bucks, it was a very very high risk move.

They could suck (and worst case they land 5th to 6th because they are in the sucky East)— and can still be dangerous in the playoffs because of their stars.

The Bucks are going to be fine, they won’t need the regular season success to define this team and they’ll be judged how far they go in the postseason (anything less than an East Finals appearance should be a disappointment).

If Julius Randle can turn it around, Dame can too.

Normally I'd agree, but their new coach looks like he's in way over his head. There's the very real risk be loses the team entirely by year end.

What a nonsense post. Dame is coming off an injury, is adjusting to a new city, and hasn’t found chemistry yet with his new teammates.
still learning the game

The Kawhi trade to Toronto made them champs right away..

The Gasol trade to the Lakers, - the team didn’t miss a beat from the get go & led them all the way to the Finals same year..

Malone / GP signing to the 2004 lakers led them all the way to the finals. They also started out hot. Just sputtered in the finals.

AD trade to the Lakers. Had the league best record then won it all on same year..

KG & Ray Allen signing , Boston had a really hot start and won it all..

I guess my point is, it’s either you have it or you don’t. In fact, the Miami Heat appears to be the exception, & they still lost to the Mavs in the finals.

Still very early but the risk of regression was always there.

From Miami's POV this looks great and i'm not even taking Lillard's bad start. Jaime Jacquez is an absolute steal and will have a great career in the NBA. Shame about Tyler's injury because he had a very good start too. And last but not least Duncan Robinson who is playing his best basketball in a Heat jersey

I appreciate your perspective, but it's important to look at the situation objectively. The trade the Bucks made was a gamble from the start, with significant financial implications.

While Lillard is undoubtedly a phenomenal player, his current performance might be impacted by adjusting to a new environment and building chemistry with new teammates, but it also isn't anywhere close to where it needs to be.

It's not about dismissing Lillard's potential impact; it's about acknowledging the reality of the situation as it stands. Time is a big factor, and while there's room for improvement and adaptation, the initial assessment of the trade is that it looks not good, to put it mildly.

It's far too early to say that. Give them at least half a season before you start writing them off.

Here’s to hoping continued failure in Milwaukee

Id think its got to be tough to adjust to being the #1 guy to playing off another guy. He is so talented though, he will turn around his personal performance. Overall for the team, i might be a bit concerned. Its a risk to hand over a championship caliber team to a first time head coach.
