Is Cam Whitmore the next Ant?

Post#1 » by IQ_baller » Sat Jan 27, 2024 2:55 am

His game is so resemblant of Anthony Edward's. Both big guards and a triple threat. I was hoping raps would pick him over Dick, but I guess Masai loved Dick more.

ANT is much longer.

I still have zero idea why he dropped in the draft.

He was projected to go in the 4 to 7 range by literately everyone, but fell all the way to 20th. He wasn't even injured or had a massive injury history like someone like MPJ did. Ultra skilled scorer, efficient, crazy athletic. Again, no idea what teams were smoking. Rockets basically got two top 5 picks this summer.

Houston has a great foundation of youngsters. They are getting a top 7 pick as well this season even if it's projected as a bad draft.

What!?....lol

I like Cam but he has nowhere near the raw talent Ant had when Ant was a rookie.

I take it Cam had a good game and thus the hyperbole is in full swing?

Is he? He didn't measure but is speculated to have a 6'9 wingspan, Whitmore measured 5'5.75 barefoot (ant would probably be around 5'3-5'4 as he's speculated to be 6'5 in shoes) with a 6'8.5 inch wingspan.

Not saying he's the next ant or anything crazy but I do not that ant is much longer if longer at all.

Still needs to learn to move the ball and not have tunnel vision. Don't want to become another Cam Thomas. If he listens to Ime and the staff, they will unlock his potential.

How do you hit the wrong number 3 times in a row

His scoring ability is REALLY high for a teenager. He probably has made it necessary the Rockets trade Jalen Green

I'd say he's the next cockroach, but it would be too flattering. That's how far away he is from Ant.

Cam Whitmore is worse than jalen green. Nowhere close to ant.

Apparently his pre draft interviews were disastrous and he just randomly walked out on at least one of them.

He was also medically red flagged as a number of teams believed he has some sort of cartilage issue that will be an issue down the line.

The interview thing was not exactly true, he didn't blow people away or anything but that was people's way of skating around saying what happened: the new Villanova coach did not like him and was telling everyone who would listen.
So teams who did not meet with him were too scared to take him. He only met with very few teams and two of them were the ones trying to trade up for him (Houston and Indy). He messed up bad by not letting other FOs get to know him a bit to prevent a disasterous tumble from teams who's background work on him was mostly just "Nova coach said don't draft him"

Medical issues were more of a yellow flag that *might* be an issue down the road, no one was taking him off their board or moving him significantly due to that alone, woj and Vecenie said as much
