It is relative to expectations and narratives.
Bucks have lost two more games than last year with 10 games left; Denver remaining #1 or 2 but likely improve from last years total wins; OKC improved greatly; Mavs record not as good but they did not make playoffs last year so still improve. He could still finish top 3 with 10 games left, and definitely should in a vacuum year.

Yeah the guy who has finished 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 1st, 1st over the past 5 years is definitely blackballed lol. Definitely there have been zero arguments for Jokic/Embiid over him the past 3 years.

about a dozen writers will leave him off their ballots entirely as they have in the past

can't wait to see KD and Bron get votes over him -- totally deserved

Nobody should awarded mvp when has usage rate over 33%.
This is the way of the selfishness, this means don't care about team, only care about himself.

This is the worst way to play basketball.

Shame you can't enjoy Giannis and a really good team.

Where did you pull out that 33% magic number? Why not 22%?

In 4 out 6 Jordan's championship regular seasons and 10 out of 13 playoffs he had it over 33%. Jokic had two playoffs runs over 33%. Great players cook with what they have or are asked. Luka had 40% usage during 3 playoff runs. If you watched the games, Mavs did not go further because he needed to rest ~10mpg and could not up the usage more.

Because anyone above 33% is selfish, if you're at 32.9% you're clearly not. You didn't know about that rule? David Stern wrote it down in his early days.

But probably more reasonable explanation is the fact that the 2nd guy is Giannis with 32.9% and he wanted to be discret with criticizing a certain player he doesn't like.

That's right. Michael Jordan whose arguably the GOAT have 33.3% usage rate for his entire career and more selfish in the playoffs with 35.6% usage rate. What a very selfish player who just got lucky winning 6 NBA titles.

Team is worse than last year

Added a HOF who hasn’t exactly got in seamlessly

Fiasco with Adrian Griffin

Stupid drama with a game ball

Kind of joking on the fourth point but Giannis has had some things working against him this year.

Giannis is not blackballed. There’s a narrative to mvp too. It plays a part for the media. He doesn’t have it. It doesn’t matter what you think of Lillards stats. He’s a starting All Star that played with Giannis this year. Something Jokic, Luka or Shai don’t have at all.

Its so silly to pretend a player is blackballed when they have two MVPs already

It is hardly silly. Don't many people think Jokic got blackballed finishing 2nd last season after two MVPs in a roll?

Dame is also 32,9,4 on .664ts w/o Giannis this season very similar to his numbers last seasonh and a 3-2 record having beaten Suns. Clips and a single possession loss against us in Boston.............there is strong evidence that Giannis has neutered Dames individual play when both share the floor while Dame and rest of teams spacing continue to make offense much easier for Giannis w/ easy shots he gets inside

Giannis had one of the biggest chokes ever against 8 seed Heat last year ppl think thats held back his Mvp case but theres far more to look at to realize he isnt a legit case like Jokic, Sga or Luka

Giannis/Lillard by far best duo in NBA today with good supporting cast, but results are disappointing. To be in one group with whole season injured Cavs and Knicks or even with Orlando is shocking.

lol, he isn't "blackballed"

elite defense? Bucks are 16th in D
31 on 65% is awesome but you do realize that he does'nt make his teamates better to the extent the guys above him do

teams are letting him get his ("letting" isn't exactly the right word, not like they could stop him from getting his), let's just say teams are comfortable letting him get his and focusing on limiting the other guys

they have a losing record away from home with Giannis + Dame...
that's not an MVP, not when a few other guys are doing what they're doing

he's great regardless :)

Interesting how Dr.MJ was kinda successful in moving discussion from Luka, but now we're talking about blackballing. :D

Getting Chuch from Texas instead of Dr.MJ here might be very good sign for Mavs. Last time I had discussion with him, Mavs made WCF, unexpectedly beating Suns and Texas Chuck had to be big Mavs homer in RealGm for few days because of the bet. Let's see what happens this year. :D

Comparison between Giannis and Luka. Luka being better in points and assists and advanced stats, so I would say 4th place looks pretty fair for Giannis. I doubt that just few wins more in easier conference should change something.

What? I don't recall losing any bets where the payoff was being a homer lol. Refresh me por favor.
