Stars sometimes carry teams to outcomes beyond where their talent warranted.
What 4 carry jobs below were the most impressive?

Dirk. LeBron never had to carry his teams through more than half of the All NBA team selection without having even an allstar himself as help

2005-2010 were all pretty good carry jobs. Most people won't recognize them as such because if you don't win the title, "you choked".

Leaving aside the 07 finals run, the 09 and 10 Cavs won over 60 games with a support cast so bad they were the among the worst teams in the league the next year. Yeh, Gilbert eventually tanked, but only after his team tried to win games and was putrid.

I see what you are saying but at least Dirk had some quality role players, guys like Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Shawn Marion, JJ, and Tyson Chandler. But those 06-07 teams, 17-18 Cavs teams were truly crap teams that truly had no business in the finals if it wasn't for Lebron.

Correct me if i am wrong but weren't they one of the worse teams in the history of the league? Didn't they have the longest losing streak in the NBA until the pistons beat it this year then went on to go on another losing streak? Lebron worked a miracle in Cleveland.
Edit: The sixers had the longest losing streak before the Piston. Trust the process seasons.

Kawhi 2019 not being here feels criminal.
The way he willed his team against Embiid-Butler Sixers and Giannis Bucks were exceptional, and then going up 3-1 against the Warriors core trio with Cousins.

I remember visiting cavsfanatics forum, or something called like that, and they used to be so mad that second seed Boston gets 3 all-stars, while number 1 seed CAVS only get 1. But I was like, what else from this team you want in all star game? Mo and Ilgauskas were the only other guys who could even be brought up, but just bringing them up is kind off a joke. Yeah, you guys get just one all-star, because your one all-star is so good, he quite obviously carries that team by himself.
In my whole tenure following the league closely, LeBron is the only guy I have seen where just having him makes you a contender. The rest of the team can and was garbage, and it didn't matter. I really think you could have put him on Euroleague team and he would have been in a second round probably still.

If non-championship seasons count, it's '07 LeBron. They had no business beating the Pistons with that roster. Even the Nets in the previous round had a better roster overall.
If not, it's either '95 Hakeem or '11 Dirk. Hakeem took down Malone, Barkley, Robinson, and Shaq on the way to the title, outplaying all of them in each matchup. Dirk had no other All-Star on his team and took down the defending champs in the Lakers, a young Durant-Westbrook-Harden trio, and the heavily favored Heatles in the Finals. His OKC takeover was especially impressive.
Then it's Duncan in '03 and Wade in '06. Duncan had no All-Star on his team and completely dominated the Finals, though he did benefit from injuries taking down the Kings and the Mavs on the way. Wade's drives just couldn't be stopped in '06, the Pistons couldn't stop him despite having Big Ben, Sheed, and Prince and the Mavs resorted to fouling him all the time. An all-time clutch performance in the Finals.
Iverson deserves a mention for his offensive carry job in '01. The Sixers had a great defense, but Iverson was basically their entire offense that season and he carried them to the Finals, where he stole a game from a loaded Lakers team.

Kawhi had an incredibly deep team that year. Just a bizarre claim tbh.

Dirk had alot of good players on his team, including several players with all-star talent regardless of whether they technically made the team. I listed him for a reason, but I'm much more impressed by Duncan's carry jobs tbh. His support casts were rubbish, and he still took down the Shaq/Kobe Lakers.
