Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal have had identical careers so far.

Post#1 » by DLoMor » Tue Mar 19, 2024 6:36 pm

Same draft class, stayed on same team their whole career until this year. Didn’t make it to the finals. Was either the number 1 or 2 option at all times. Now they the 2 or 3 option on a contending team.

Any other similarities between them? Who had the better career between them now I wonder.

While in the abstract they may look pretty similar, Dame has comfortably been the better player.

Oh come on, there’s absolutely no contest between the two. Lillard is by far the more accomplished player, even though both have generally had bad to mediocre supporting casts around them.

Without looking it up, would say Dame has clearly had a better career, and looking up, it backs it up.

Dame 8x all star
Beal 3x all star

Dame 7x all NBA (1 time first team)
Beal 1x all NBA (third team)

Dame top 75 NBA player all time
Beal did not make the list

Dame 1x Olympic Gold
Beal no Olympic medals (2 FIBA youth golds tho)

Dame 61 Play off games
Beal 45 Play off games

they don't look similar in any abstract. Dame is better in every single factor. Even the strawman the OP uses about "being the 1st or 2nd option" is incorrect since Dame just now become the 2nd option where as Beal spent a large portion of his career as the second option.

I guess Lamarcus was their first option there for a while. But Dame averaged 19 points as rookie and won ROY over Anthony Davis, which by the way, a lot of RealGMers called it, before the season.

Beal was a 1st option from roughly 2017-23 as Wall's injuries piled up, while Dame was a 1st option from 2015-23. He played with LMA his first few years. So they're not too different in that one respect. Again, Dame was just comfortably better.

In what world is Dame even close to the 3rd option in MIL? lol

Dame was the 1st option for most of his career and is now the 2nd and somewhat 1b option (takes the reigns primary option in the clutch). Bradley started off as the 2nd and then was the 1st for a brief period. Now he's the 3rd option on the Suns. On top of that Dame's resume is considerably more decorated. No real comparison here outside their draft class and being high volume scorers with subpar defense.

not sure OP knows what identical means? The term you are maybe looking for is superficially similar.

Steve Nash and Mike Conley have had identical careers. Both starting point guards for good western conference teams, neither won a title, both 1st or 2nd options for a majority of their careers eventually become 3rd of 4th options at the end of their careers.

OP with a nice troll thread
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Lillard has easily had a better career, but for the sake of argument...

Lillard has 22 playoff wins. Beal has 22 playoff wins.
