What's next for Harden?

Post#1 » by JustBuzzin » Sat May 4, 2024 4:46 am

Everybody focusing on Paul George, but Harden is also a FA. At this point of his career he's probably a full time point guard. He doesn't seem very useful without the ball in his hands. Looking around the league I don't see many open starting spots that fit him.

I think the Pelicans are probably his only other realistic option besides the Clippers.

Do you see any other team going after Harden in FA?

I think this Clippers team is going to look almost identical next year. They're all in on this core. Keep driving into that brick wall and maybe one of these years you'll break through it. I doubt it, but they don't have the ability and assets to rebuild or even retool.

Only good teams with cap space are OKC (they don't want him) Philly (he just left there) and Orlando (too young not a good fit). So I think he stays a Clipper.

Haters will say China but dude just needs to get paid and play for Detroit. The old 2014 era can't get it done anymore. Too much mileage to get titles these days with the way the game is played now. Give the fans a show and help some young guys know their spots.

Kyrie the only one still being able to turn it up but we gotta see how okc responds.

I expect the clippers to bring it back and sign everyone back, even if it’s huge short term deals.

I think they’re just gonna ride it out hoping Kawhi catches lightning in a bottle and stays healthy at least in the playoffs til his contract runs out. What else can they do while they’re built around him?

sign n trade is always an option and I’d say a far likely option if he were to leave.

I expect him to run it back with the Clippers, but I also expect them to offer him a three year deal. All of these old guys are in the same spot. They want the most money possible even after making generational wealth already, but the only way to get it is to re-sign and then force a trade. No one but the bad teams (and Philly/Orlando) have capspace.

I can't think of many examples of players leaving either L.A. team in free agency, unless they were just a scrub that was no longer wanted by them.

He probably stays. The main issue on the team is Kawhi’s health. You can’t lose your best offensive player that’s also the best defender and expect to advance in the playoffs.

He could probably still go back to Houston. They could either slide FVV to the 2 or trade him.

My guess is that he'll wait to see what PG does. If PG stays, I think Harden runs it back. If PG leaves, I think Harden chases the ring somewhere else.

he's cooked and has been for years. He doesn't even pretend to care or defend. No team should want him. He's a net negative. Might as well write off your season if you're signing Harden. I suppose some team will be dumb though. I imagine it's the desperate Clippers and buffoon Balmer that will be the ones to do it. If not them, I could see a sign and trade for someone trying to offload their own albatross (Beal, LaVine, Herro, Lillard, Middleton, Kuzma & Poole)
