W/Luka hurting bad & so is Murrayy, does the Lack of handchecking & defense alow the players to play @ such a fast past that Lots of thez injuries are caused by the speed of the game ? Would allowing more defense slow the game game enuf to cut out 20% of pace we are on. Riley w/Heat seems to think not. I wondered if the fact thez players are viewing g themselves & their bodies as an investment they can't allow to play hurt that mite lead to more injuries . Chemistry & commaradie still mean so much in Basketball that something has to give a s the gameproduct is down w/all the injuries

You mention Luka then you say injuries are caused by speed. I quit reading right after that.

Was just giving an example of injured star player Sport. Training & stretching must be over emphasized now to help combat thez injuries issues. Do the Euro Leagues suffer this many injuries ?

Euroleague teams a smaller amount of games, travel shorter distances, have to deal with max. 1 hour timezone difference.

As far as the rules are concerned, the court is smaller, more hand checking and defensive 3 seconds are allowed so I'll give you that. But teams generally play less 1on1 and there are less athletic plays. A transition dunk is almost always an immediate time out.

No one needs 82 freaking games to eliminate 10 of 30 teams…

72 RS games. 2 against teams of the other conference and 3x the 14 teams of your conference. Or even 58 games I wouldn’t mind…

Less games and now you can kill every B2B and divisions too.

Won’t happen because money…

The answer is pretty obvious. Play other players more. Most teams have 14 players on the roster, yet only half of them ever play. Some of them never. There is really no reason any player needs to play 35+ minutes per game.

Maybe if players didn't need to squeeze 82 games into 6 months, they wouldn't be as beaten down by the playoffs?

Shouldnt need more then 2 months from final game til new season starts. More important with more rest in the season then a gigantic summerbreak that no sport need

It’s not like you can’t get hurt playing at a slower pace but yes there is a correlation between specifically the wear and tear kinds of injuries and pace of play.

The entire reason we got into the load management mess was because NBA medical staffs have been convinced that more activity = greater risk of injury and slower rate of recovery. Well you can not play basketball to reduce that effect but you could also play basketball at a slower pace to reduce it as well.

Teams who make a deep run in the Euroleague do play a lot of games.

For example Real Madrid played 88 games last season.

OKC, Minnesota and Indy have all been pretty healthy. They also play their benches more than most and are the youngest teams in the playoffs. Unfortunately, older player cost more so most of the time these older super expensive teams have very few options off the bench. So you end up with old guys playing too much. I know it is not that simple but it does seem like if you are a young team and you play your bench a reasonable amount of time, you got a way better shot of avoiding injury.

107 NHL players played 82 games this past season. 116 the prior season.

These guys just aren't able to play consistently these days. Its always some excuse.

OP is clearly talking about the pace of games and not the actual speed of a player. Faster pace = more possessions = more running = more wear and tear. It's pretty straightforward.

If you haven't noticed Luka and Jokic stay as grounded as possible.

50 regular season games. Cancel all-star game. Players are eligible for awards with 35 games played.
Playoffs: Best of 3 for all rounds.
But this is just a fantasy. Players rather get injured than get paid less. Guaranteed contracts ftw.

And yet we're going to expand the league and make the quality even worse.

Exactly this. I mean play offs I give them a fair arguement of not going this

But regular season you have 14-15 players and yet only 8-9 maybe playing because others are too Inexperienced? How they meant to get that expererince, surely giving them 4-5 min a quarter won't hurt?? :)
