Maybe they can re-create it with Ernie, Chuck, and Kenny, leaving Shaq behind.

It ended in 2011 when Shaq joined. Since '11 it has sucked.

Ends with an error by adding deranged Draymond to the final show! How fitting is that! (Ernie's voice).

While their actual basketball analysis has been trash for years, their entertainment value was top-notch and will be sorely missed. End of an era indeed.

Well, there goes any chance of me watching a pregame/halftime show in the future. Fine by me

Bummer, really the only sports panel show worth watching. And quite frankly, the reason it was watchable was because it wasn't 100% sports all the time, they got in to real life stuff as well. The chemistry part can't be forced in any group, and these guys just jelled.

And yet, we're stuck with the horrendous NBA Countdown from ESPN. That show is unwatchable. Perk must pay them to be on the air instead of getting a paycheck.

This sucks. It's my favorite basketball show right now. I'd watch inside the nba over anything ESPN does on game nights.

Does anyone know what happens to NBATV? It's operated by Turner/TNT as well.

The analysis on the show was terrible from the start but it was great tv. I remember LMAO with my dad watching Barkley kiss a donkey's butt on live tv.

Ernie is the ideal host at keeping a show moving. It looks easy but when you see how bad most ESPN folks are at this you realize it is essential and hard. Barkley was genuinely funny and charismatic and Kenny provided just enough analysis. It was great TV.

Well NBC has a year to figure it out so let’s see what happens.

I get why some are annoyed by the show it isn’t basketball rich it is about personality. Those guys work well together. Hard to recreate. Aside from EJ who is a pro and maybe Charles who is an excellent gimmick guy, not sure Shaq or Kenny fit in any other crew

The decades' long awfulness of Countdown is a remarkable, negative achievement. They clearly try to ape Inside the NBA but miss what makes it great. We love Barkley not because he's a terrible analyst but because he's a charming terrible analyst with a sense of humor. Contrast that with SAS who is joyless and patently insincere.

They've never understood the essentialness to what Ernie does on that show and instead just plug in play their "star of the month" not recognizing it takes real talent to make a pre/post game show entertaining while moving along steadily.

ESPN just sucks.

All good things come to an end. All things must pass. Change is inevitable.

Enjoy what we have left and move on with no regrets.

Guessing you aren’t a football fan or haven’t seen Good Morning Football, but it’s the best sports show out there these days for me.
