Is Kyrie the Goat "Guard" Robin of all time?

Post#1 » by LaLover11 » Mon May 27, 2024 2:28 am

Is he the greatest guard #2 option of all time?
Read on Twitter

A few names that come up to mind:

Mamba " Shaq Lakers" *
Klay
Wade " 2012 Heat"
Curry " Durant warriors" *
Westbrook "Thunder" *
J.Murray
K.Smith
J.Brown

Pippen is excluded since he was a point forward
* Could be argued they were #1 option
Bronny will become Murray 2.0

Kobe was a much bigger Robin than him.

Kobe became Batman eventually (won 2 rings without Cactus)

Never really considered him a Robin tbh.

Puh leeeeeeeze. Talk about reactionary thread. Yes, Kyrie has redeemed himself this year and just balling. But, not even close. Kyrie has only won one championship. There a ton of other Robin's that have done way more

You got Pippen, Kobe, Kareem (when Magic joined), Wade (w Lebron), Robinson (w Duncan), Gasol
- all these players have multiple championships as the #2

Obviously Kobe peaked much higher than a robin, and he had the capabilities of leading his own team (which he did 2x).

However I along with most people will remember Kobe next to Shaq, where he was second fiddle next to Shaq aka robin.

Doesn't take away from the fact he's a top 10/15 player of alltime.

Anyone who claims Kyrie is better than Curry or Kobe should have their posting privileges removed the rest of the playoffs.

For a clear #2, he might be at the top of the list.

I don't count Kobe, Wade, Durant or Curry because they either won a championship as the best player at some point or arguably did. They are clearly #1 guys even if you personally think they (Curry or Durant) never won as the best player on the team. Just because they won a championship next to another #1 guy doesn't mean they are a Robin. Batman doesn't become Robin if you put him next to Superman. It's just Superman and Batman.

Legendary player.

He was a huge Robin in 00-02. Shaq could have won 3 titles with Ray Allen instead of him. Better fit for one thing.

Kobe's record in games without Shaq from 99-07 is 135-137. From 99-04 it was 23-26. Kobe was not a floor raiser on those teams. Once the Lakers had the best supporting cast in the league he won some titles, but his impact compares poorly to real top 20 players like Giannis, Luka, KD, Jokic, D.Rob, Nash, etc.

Kobe was an alpha masquerading as a robin. He shouldnt count considering he won titles as the man. Kyrie is definitely up there

Pippen is the Greatest sidekick in NBA history and it isn't close. He also fits the sidekick monitor the best. Never really a true alpha, but fit his role as the second option to perfection

No, not close..

He might be the GOAT ancillary scoring option off of a heliocentric #1 though

Probably. Curry, Kobe, Wade, Magic etc., were #1 options.

More like Deadpool and Wolverine (DC sucks)-- that duo can't co-exist with each other everyone thought.
