I mean, I think it goes without saying what's at stake here for DAL in game 3.

In the week leading up to the game, people really talked up the Mavs chances and twisted their brains into pretzels trying to come up with advantages they had. I think through 2 games 2 things should be clear... 1) Luka is the best individual player in this series, and 2) BOS is decisively the better/more talented team on paper. #1 is an advantage for DAL, but they need it to outweigh #2 and do so when they're already down 0-2. Objectively speaking, it's tough to be optimistic on their end.

DAL pretty much has to win both of these home games. Considering BOS's advantage on paper, it's hard to see DAL winning 4 of 5. It gets easier to see them winning 3 of 4. And then easier to see them winning 2 of 3. And then easier to see them winning a winner take all. Conversely, it's be damn near impossible to see them winning 4 in a row if they lose this or even 3 straight if they split these games at home. Their only advantage in this series is that they have the best player who is most likely to have such a great game that even a better overall team on the other side can't overcome it.

We have to lock threads when they get to 100 pages and I figure doing it before a game is better than doing it in the middle of a game.

I know mang I am just messing around. A lot of Mavs fans gave us the ole "I'll eat crow if the Mavs lose" and now it's more of a pain to find/quote them lmao

Another scintillating episode of NBA Today. They spent 30 minutes on the Lakers coaching search and 20 minutes on Caitlin Clark, with 5 minutes on the NBA Finals sandwiched in between for weirdos like me.

Kyrie in 2016 Finals: first two games combined 12/36 field goals, and 1/7 from 3pt line. Down 0-2 to 73 win Warriors and won the 7-game series. Finished next five games 30.8ppg at .51/.47/.95.
Kyrie in 2024: first two games combined 13/37 field goals, and 0/8 from 3pt line.

Luka in 2022 against Suns: first two games combined 15 assists 12 turnovers. Down 0-2 to 64-win Suns and won the 7-game series. Finished next 5 games 34 assists 16 turnovers.
Luka in 2024: first two games combined 12 assists 12 turnovers.

Series not finished but game 3 is a must win for Dallas.

Boston is the underdog this game which I think is the first time the post season

It could still be Mavs in 5 if they win in 7 (thus, winning 4 of the next 5 games)

C's are undefeated on the road this postseason. I frankly don't see the Mavs as any kind of legitimate step up over the rest of the league, so I think that streak continues.

Years ago when threads got too long it would overload the servers and the site would get glitchy.

At the start of these playoffs several threads were way past 100 pages and everything on the site was fine. So we decided the issues that used to be caused by long threads were in the past and we didn't have to worry about it anymore.

Then the site started glitching every 5 minutes and Howard said to keep locking threads at 100 just to be on the safe side. I honestly don't think it's caused any of the issues but then again I'm not much of a tech guy.

In regards to Game 2, I am hoping some of the critics of the Celtics' shot profile noticed that the C's did not in fact "die by the 3."

Couldn't throw the ball in the ocean for most of the game but got it done anyway.

Mavs haven't been able to find the equation to stop the Celtics yet. What changes for Dallas? If im Dallas i might play Tatum as a scorer similar how Boston is largely playing luka 1 on 1. You cant give up 40 blow bys and 40 3 point attempts and think that is a winning formula

Kidd wants to force players other than Tatum to beat them.

He's getting what he wants, good and hard.

It was a false narrative anyway. This season, the Celtics had the best win% in the league when shooting below league average for 3p%. Further, their dropoff in win% from above league average to below league average was middle of the pack, and actually below the Mavericks. Some of the biggest dropoffs - true "live by the 3, die by the 3" teams - were the Knicks and Pacers.

Gotta think this is the big Tatum game like game 3 vs Cleveland was.

They aren't playing a caliber of team to MAKE them die by the 3.

The celtics sure did try to give it to them on a silver platter though giving up that 9-0 run late. A better team gives the celtics a devastating loss under those circumstances.
