Luka on pace to lead the playoffs in Total PTS/REB/AST

Post#1 » by HotRocks34 » Tue Jun 11, 2024 11:49 am

The only other time this has happened in NBA history was Jokic last year.

Jokic also led in Win Shares last year. Currently Luka is slightly behind Derrick White in that category.

The one person who can prevent Luka from the PTS/REB/AST trifecta is Jayson Tatum, who is at the moment 20 rebounds behind Luka. Points and Assists are locked up as long as Luka doesn't miss any games.

What's extra impressive about Luka's run is that he's tied for the team lead in individual playoff DRTG (109; BBREF) and he has the second-best On Court playoff Team DRTG (110; NBA.com) among DAL starters (DJJ leads at 108). So he's doing it on both ends.

Max 5 more games left in this postseason. We'll see if he can hold on to the REB lead.

It would be a great accomplishment and hope he does it. Jokic has the ability to help him.

Super impressive on offense, very disappointing on defense. As a Blazers fan, watching Luka is like watching a bigger, slower Damian Lillard.

Not only will he lead the playoffs in points, rebounds, assists but also in steals and 3-points made.

What's crazier still is that Luka's doing this while being as dinged as he is. Respect.

This is clearly the worst individual playoff run of his career, nothing impressive about it.

It's obviously not this simple, but this should be a HINT as to why Doncic's stats and impact haven't generally been commensurate. Also a hint as to why I've consistently said since at least his second year that Doncic has been a bit overrated; just a bit, but still great.

Here's the playoffs Win Shares data. Although Luka is listed #1 here, BBREF in another section has Derrick White as the top guy. Obviously their numbers are close.

Lmao at Jokic being that high still when his team hasn’t played in a month. Truly was a one man show this year.

Luka is leading the Mavs in SPG for the playoffs at 1.8, and he's tied for The Finals lead (with Jaylen Brown, I think) at 3.0 SPG.

Here's an example of that against Tatum in Game 1.

As great as Luka is, it's still hard for me to put him over Jokic as the best player in the game. Maybe 1A and 1B.

Yeah, aside from a possession here or there, Luka has been the worst defender I've seen play starter minutes in a finals, ever. Now, he's obviously awesome at other things and nagging injuries probably have something to do with his struggles, but I'm shocked at how often I'm thinking to myself "Damn, Luka got destroyed on defense there" over the span of two games.

He should, he has the ball 20 sec of every 24 seconds in their ball possessions. It was more impressive when Jokic did last years playoffs since he averages half of the minutes on the ball compared to Luka.

I'm looking forward to after the finals so people can stop comparing the Luka hype to the offensive genius that is Jokic, who also is pretty decent defender. A terrible defender playing like prime Harden with Lebron size isn't unstoppable like Jokic.

More Luka strong defense in Game 1 as he guards Zinger and strips the ball from him.
