That's a crazy trade for the Spurs. They're going to wait SEVEN years to get some help for Wemby?!

Hopefully it's just asset gathering to hunt for a star player at some point

This trade makes absolutely no sense.

Puzzling decision by SAS. They are supposed to be building around Wemby, not Deuce Tatum

What if they just didn’t love any of the prospects left in the draft?

Wild - I liked his fit there too

Essentially this is a gift to MN and they put a lot of chips in for Dillingham, but he's a perfect fit (cost controlled now) for MN and SAS just gave it away for a long-long-play.

It’s a pick in 7 years. No other teams are going to value that in a trade.

Absolutely wild. A top 10 pick for a lotto ticket in 7 years.

Unbelievable.

There better be another traded lined up or this is disgusting.

They mustn't have. However it surely would have made sense just to roll the dice on someone with high potential upside (e.g. hoping Buzelis develops a shot).

Or draft a very safe day 1 contributor in Dalton Knecht.

SAS playing 4D chess by already tanking for Cooper Flagg next draft to pair with Wemby.

It’s a pick in 7 years, there’s a good chance the pick is worse than 8! :banghead:

Great trade for the Wolves, Dillingham serving as the padawan to Conley.

Really difficult to understand from the Spurs perspective, makes no sense honestly.

But they see someone they like in the 2031 draft?

Your plan is to build with middling guy from 2024 draft? I obviously do not know this kid, but I assume he is not that great, this is a draft where two questionable France guys where first two picks. Spurs got a pick to trade for an actual star PG, a guy who can actually help, or at worst, they got a pick that will most likely lead to them drafting something better in the future.

Well, they probably will when time comes...

Im not happy with the return but i won't object to the trade in general. If they didn't value anyone else in the draft, it's better than trading for the sake of trading.

By 2031, Wemby will be 27, so there's that lol

Spurs get 8M in cap space this year, could use the future picks for another trade.

Minnesota luxury tax bill increases from $56M to $84M with the selection of Rob Dillingham. An aggressive move for a Minnesota team that returns the same starting 5 but was faced with limited options in free agency.
